  1. I have used most that are already mentioned, recently discovered a spray on starting fluid used for starting diesel engines was very effective and dried very quickly with no residue
  2. Picture won't open for me eas well. But Pegas blade breakage, I use Pegas modified very good blade but sometimes several will break for no obvious reason.
  3. I just got a new Seyco and it is sitting beside the Dewalt but not sharing the bench. There is strange noises from the Dewalt everytime I use the Seyco and I had the short blade scar yesterday. Must be sibling rivalry
  4. I replaced my DW788 with the Pegas, can't say it vibrates less but they do clamp and seem easier blade changes. I have since ordered a new Seyco saw. and will be driving to the U.S tomorrow to pick it up
  5. I have spent most of my 76 years getting organized. from tobacco cans , to glass see through containers ( not a good move as glass breaks), to plastic peanut butter jars and now done major cleanup and utilizing stackable bins, small parts drawer cabinets . A new work bench with may drawers. In this last clean up I finally threw out the router two days before I found the new parts for my Porter Cable Router that I misplaced some 25 years ago.
  6. just ordered the Seyco, was told it would be sent June 03.
  7. The pegas saw looks great and would be a consideration but haven't found a distributer here in Canada. Bear Woods from Langely British Columbia bring the Pegas in for their American customers are not able to provide for us here in Canada. I could order it and have it shipped to a mail/ package handling provider close to the border to hold for pick up but I am 10 hours away from the border but am considering it
  8. I have been looking at the 21 inch Excelsor which is made by King and sold here in Canada for $1000.00 ( about $750 U.S). looks like it is the same saw. Glad to hear the positive comments
  9. I had this problem on the Dewalt 788 done the sanding, changing position etc each helped for a while but it kept progressively getting worse till I changed out the clamps for new ones. Went to the Pegas clamp as it was only a few dollars more, shipping was cheaper and quicker, so far quite satisfied.
  10. I made many compound cuts using the jig method, I found Pegas modified geometry blade # 3 and #1 to cut most hardwoods including sapele . this blade was good on turns and worked better at medium blsde speed and real patient feed rate.
  11. thanks for sharing your thoughts on warping, they are very informative
  12. I am an either or person, but I did do a relief cutting, started counter clockwise and finished it up clockwise , didn't work out but gave laugh at myself
  13. that slippage business is a real problem, thanks for bringing it up and all the helpful comments gives me hope that I can salvage a piece that I had deemed a worthless oops.
  14. Good topic, I have fairly good hearing but I do have tinnitus ( ringing in the ears) the irritation gets worse after being exposed to areas of increased noise , a crowded restaurant could cause the ringing for a few hours or a day or so after exposure. I have several ear muffs as the foam plugs don't feel right. My radio is headset is good hearing protection is also good as it also is a noise blocker. My preference is a set that reduces and softens noise yet allows me to hear. This ringing can cause me to be irritable and feel some what nervous. I may try the set you are using as it is not so bulky. Thanks for sharing
  15. The pattern book downloaded easily and will be very usable, I committed my $25.00 donation to the local food bank but when my wife and I went down to donate the Christmas hampers were being filled and they were short of presents for 12 year old girls so my wife suggested we go shopping. Spent a lot more than originally planned but it feels so good knowing that some young girls will have something that will give them lasting enjoyment through out the year. We will sell more ornaments this yea rand hopefully donate again next year
looks good so I give it a 5 rating, and will donate $25.00 to our local food bank for Christmas hampers here in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada
  16. many ways to fix, I would try the glue and sawdust paste. some times leaving the flaw alone is a good reminder that "compost happens"
  17. I cut Steve Good's recipe box pattern came out great, I cut each pin slightly proud and sanded down to size. after assembly the lid and box did not match perfectly, a little sanding on my belt sander cured that problem. before cutting I checked the blade square to the table.
  18. I put in King air cleaner and use a dust mask when sawing. I also have local dust collection on all my other tools. This really helps my COPD
  19. Thanks for the good info.
  20. I live in Canada and buy from Bear Woods, delivery is six seven days on most items. If I send a letter from my town to the town sixty klicks down the road it takes six or seven days as well. Far from me to figger out our postal system. The Bear Woods site comes up in U.S currency when I access from Scroll Saw Workshop, there is a tab to access items in Canadian dollars. To compare, U.S is usually much less than our dollar. I also buy blades from Mike's, delivery is about seven or eight days, similar price when exchange is calculated. There isn't any duty or border charges and the postal charge is about the same, something like $4.00 I also buy from Saw Bird, a distributor some six hours drive from us. Delivery maybe a day or two earlier, postal service is $4.00 for blades They come in an envelope. Bear Woods is on the West coast near Vancouver and close to the border, It appears that Steve Good is associated with them. Bear Woods sells U,S clock manufactured items, these are a little more expensive, but much better than the ones I bought from Eastern Canada that were labelled from China. I have phoned each distributer and get exceptional, cordial treatment. Apologize for getting long worded, it is a hereditary thing. Just hope this trade issue doesn't interfere with my scroll saw hobby.
  21. good job, I just finished the stickman chess set I turned out o.k but still lacking in quality
  22. I find it amazing how fast our supply of wood can disappear into designer sawdust and few good pieces of art
  23. Welcome to Bob from Edmonton, I am Norm from Nipawin, 10 hours away from the next province east. been to Edmonton many times.there is another Canadian in this blog from Grande Prairie , been there as well in fact in my Crane operating days I had opportunity to erect some steel beams on the train trestle over the Wapiti River, way back some 50 years ago.The fellowship of scrollers is vast and we feel association with each other. The feller from Colorado that is not ashamed of the Gospel often pops up in various blogs, his info is always a treat as is many others.

    Dremel 1680

I have this saw, used it for years. Does not compare with the Dealt I upgraded to. Had blower problems, repaired twice; put a fish tank air pump that was the best fix. Had trouble with the blade slipping out had to sand the contact points and make a tightener knob . Hated the blade tensioning system, got tired of reaching to the back to tighten . It now takes up space in my shop as no one seems interested in purchasing it
