  7. Only one project this week??!!!....quit goofing off!!!! just kiddin!!! ( I forget that not everyone is retired like me!!!) Looks really good!! Great work and your frames really make the pieces stand out!
  8. Glad that you like them!!! The wood is your basic 1/4 inch Baltic Birch from Woodcrafts in Wilmington DE. This piece was stained with MInwax Gunstock stain and finished with Tung Oil. A lot of times I will stain and paint the surface, then do a bit of sanding to mix the two. Sometimes I finish with a brush on shellac or spray on glossy sealant. Always trying different finishes and sealants....never quite satisfied!! Heavy black poster board for the mount.
  9. Too cool!! Love them both!!

  16. All part of the game!...It doesn't matter what you engage in, there will always be rejects or ruins....In my case, if I screw up a piece, even if I have hours put into it, I just think to myself that it was a good practice and I probably learned something or improved a skill in the process! In the art world I bet there are 10 duds for every good endeavor!
  17. Great work!! Thanks for sharing!!

I'll try that.....I played with spiral blades for a bit. Lots of fun to use but I can't cut a straight line with them. Going to cut a piece today and try it!

Loved the coin that Randy did.....Not gonna kid myself into believing that I could did work as intricate and precise....maybe someday....way down the road!!!! But I loved the wolf face and wanted to see how good of a cutting I could do....not very accurate but I'm practicing hard!!! Also not nearly as small a cutting as Randy!! Lew
  21. Gotta sit! Much more comfy! I was standing when I first started, but found myself bending over to see the blade position better. I now sit and feel pretty good....I need to build a stand because my saw is still abit too high.

All done! Really easy pattern but fun! Stained, painted, sanded, and steel wool for the finish. My wife thinks it looks like Doc Holliday.....kinda does! Lew
