GusGustin got a reaction from OCtoolguy in First try at Epoxy Charcuterie board
that's cool .. I was thinking about doing something with Epoxy, also. I love those things they are doing that makes 'em look like waves on the beach.
I like how you followed the grain of the wood .. very cool.

GusGustin reacted to dgman in Dirk Boelman Christmas projects
I have shown these in the past. Both were made several years ago, but these are my favorite Dirk Boelman Christmas projects. First is Santa’s workshop portrait. Cut from 1/8 Baltic birch plywood with a Mahogany ply backer. Handcrafted pine frame. Above Mrs Santa is a wall clock. That clock comes to life as the second project. The clock is cut from solid Cherry and Walnut with Maple for the icicles. Elves and Santa in the windows are also Maple. The roof pillars are compound cut out of pine. The clock movement chimes every hour and every fifteen minutes. It has a swinging pendulum with elves swinging on the pendulum rod.

Our Pattermakers! I have had a dozen or more patterns made for me in the short 2 or 3 years that I have been coming to the Village and have seen several hundred or maybe even thousands more made for other Scrollers. I want to thank everyone that has made me a pattern and everyone else that took time out of their day to make patterns for others. Very much appreciated. By the way, I still have a few patterns that have been made for me that I haven't gotten around to cutting out yet... too many ideas, not enough time!
Thanks,
Barry

GusGustin reacted to Dragonkort in my sons present finally finished
well here it is all finished, my sons dad by day gamer by night from steve good. I had messed up the lettering when i was cutting it out, but most people who know me i seldom throw anything away that i might be able to use. i turned it into a picture frame. It holds a small school picture. since i dont have a small school picture of my grandson so i inserted one of my sons small school pictures she he knows where to put the picture. we printed out the dad by day gamer by night on the computer and then cut 2 peices of bb to size and glued the words on to it and then glued the words on the wood to the backer board. i left it unfinished as i dont know how well the print would hold up if i put polyurithine on it. now the back peace for hanging the pictures is made from the plastic that comes with a new pair of earrings. we cut the top off and lued it to the back leacing the lip in tack. then i slide some clear fishing line into the grove and put a dab of glue on the earring holder thing so the fishing line wont slide out. i used peaces of dowl for the frame....now i wont be on too much anymore because the bowtox shots are not working as well as it used to so im constently in mild migrine pain. i had hoped wearing an eyepatch over my right eye so it wouldnt get the light from the monter screen in hopes that it would prevent the migrine from gettig worse and its helping some but not enough i will try to look at all your projects one at a time inbetween the projects i am hoping to be able to do at least until the pain gets to bad again for me to craft....im hoping it wont get that bad again and if i work slowly and take lots of breaks ever 5 -10 minutes or so the pain wont get to bad at least not for awhile....oh well at least you wont have to read my rattleing on and on in far to long posts as often now... i hope every one has a VERY MARRY CHRISTMAS!!

GusGustin reacted to Ken Lotts in Victorian bells
I discovered this pattern when another scroller (Lasha Barbosa) posted her fantastic work on a Facebook group in early November.
I contacted her to find the pattern (which is in a book available on Amazon) and decided to have a go at cutting it out..
What a surprise when it actually turned out. Sharon loves them so I ended up stack cutting a bunch for this years Christmas. It was a big hit.
I used quarter inch Red Oak purchased from Lowes and upscaled the pattern a bit.
I am pretty sure I used FD PSR#3 at first but then I switched to FD UR#3 later. I oiled it with Old English.
Sharon wanted to hang it below another ornament so I cut out a star (from Steve Good) and connected them with fishing line. She added the ribbon.

GusGustin reacted to FrankEV in Parrot and Peony
This colorful 12” x 15 1/2” fretwork portrait was made from a free decal stencil image by Henny Donovan that I found online and reworked into a scrollable pattern in Inkscape. I’ve uploaded the pattern to the Library.
The pattern was cut in 5/32” solid core Maple ply using Pegas #0 spiral blades and affixed to a 1/4” hand painted BB ply backer. The coloring was done using acrylic craft paints. I used the original image as a guide to doing the coloring. I’ve attached the original image for comparison. The final panel was protected with multiple coats of Clear Gloss Lacquer. FYI, the painting process is a time consuming effort.
The frame is a simple Poplar frame painted Gloss Black
It should be noted that in the actual cutting there is contrast in the Parrots eye that is not visible in the photo because shadow hides the light grey color surrounding the black pupil.

GusGustin got a reaction from amazingkevin in Guitar for the DAY ..
Finished this a few days ago .. was cutting with a pegas 2/0 MGT - but - it took 5 or 6 broken blades on this 3/4+" Walnut Burl before I thought "HEY DUMMIE! Use a bigger blade, there are NO little itty bitty cuts." Only broke one blade after that. I love that #1 FD. The stand is shaped like a GUITAR PICK. In Maple. Maple and walnut just look so darned good together.
I used Danish Oil (natural) on the thing - then - Spar Urethane - 3 coats seperated with a bit of sanding to get that glossy glass like finish on the base.
Clock from KMMKrafts .. of course.
Next project ? I think Lab Head shot .. on a heart shapped back ground .. hmmmm . . need to find a good pattern of a Labs Head ..

I have seen this cut before but cannot remember where. Wish I knew the designer so I could give credit. The eagle is 3/8" cherry, the base is plain old pine. Both dipped in 50/50 BLO. Cut with #1 PMG.
