  1. A couple pieces I finished while off work this week. The shuttle is for a friend at work, a sort of going away present. He’s moving. The lighthouse was requested by another friend as a gift for his mom. It was the first time I tried rounding the edges. I have a Dremel with the plunge router attachment that I used. I think it looks better than the squared edges. 3328E379-2E2C-409C-8458-3271A5DB4E7D.MOV
  2. Thanks for the input folks! I guess I just need to sit down and start learning!
  3. Thanks, Scott. I appreciate everyone’s input here. I didn’t have a lot of the stuff mentioned on hand. But I had the superglue. So that’s what I used. Superglue quite a few spots around the piece and stacked some books on it. It appears to be holding fine. I’m giving it to my buddy tomorrow. Now I got a bunch of great tips for future projects!
  4. The glue on the foam roller - stupid question time, ...is the roller one time use or does the glue wash out?. And I assume you can simply pour the glue from the tray back in the bottle....
  5. I did the two pieces different colors. Would be tough to do that already glued. Doesn’t look like two different colors cause the woods were so close in color already. Thanks for the replies everyone! I’ve got some greats ideas now
  6. Finished this yesterday and applied Danish Oil. Now I’m wondering how to secure it? There is not much surface area for glue. And i don’t want it to squeeze out because it would be hard to clean it up. Any ideas? How do y’all do it? I was thinking epoxy on the few areas with the most surface Thanks!
  7. Come on! How is this possible! That’s awesome. What blade did you use?
  8. Awesome. Thanks!!
  9. So where do you get smaller bits from?
  10. Thanks, Don. Not really looking for anything at the moment. Really just wanting to know how others with zero drawing skill make their own patterns. I have downloaded Inkscape but have not got a chance to really dig in and learn it yet. I’m glad you mentioned the lessons from Travis, I forgot about those. Seems like a good place to start.
  11. Do you have to be an artist, or graphic designer of sorts to design your own patterns? I’ve been getting some requests for stuff that is hard to come by in the pre-made pattern world. Like Lighthouse and a rocket. Would be great if I could just design my own patters. But I have absolutely zero drawing skills. Do most folks just find a cool picture and turn it in to a pattern? Or do they really design their own?
  12. I don’t think I have a small enough drill bit to be able to do that.
  13. Took some glamor shots yesterday. Great day for it!
  14. Thank you for the kind words!
  15. Thanks all!
  16. Nice cutting and I just discovered what veining is!
  17. Hmmm, You all might be right. This is where I saw it. The “happy Halloween”. Those lines are not drawn on but cut with a very fine blade? Wow, noob question!! Haha
  18. I've noticed some patterns have writing on them. Mostly lines to accent a curve or scroll cut. What do y'all use to mark on the wood that won't rub off when stained with Danish oil or other oil? Sharpie?
  19. Wow, I been working on these off and on for months and I only just now realized from Paul that the bull rider is missing. Well, not missing because I forgot it, but its just not part of the set from Steve Good. Thanks folks!
  20. Incredible work! May I ask what scroll saw you used? Thanks for supply the other details. It really helps a new scroller like myself to know what tools the pros use.
  21. “Complete”. Meaning they are all cut. But I have 3 pieces I need to sand, apply danish oil, and glue. Then they will be complete. Overall it was my most tedious project yet. More fretwork than I’ve done. But the end result is always worth the effort. 3/4” Brich plywood. Broke a few blades and dulled a few! The last 2 I cut needed a blade each. After I was done it felt really dull. On to the next! Got a friend that wants a lighthouse. Did these two today,
  22. So here’s a funny story. All happened within about 5 seconds. I pull up at work today and I have to scan my badge to open the gate. It’s dark at 5am still. Crank windows right...well I try to roll down and it won’t move. “Hmm darn beater, guess the window is stuck now”. So I try a bit harder and *CRUNCH* “OH WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!...hmmm window rolls down just fine. And back up just fine? That was weird. I guess it fixed itsel...... Ohhhhhhhh yeahhhhhh”
  23. I might do Orange just to be different. Different and uglier
  24. Yeah, maybe some spray paint would take it up a notch. I have some Orange colored spray paint
