  1. @heppnerguy @carl1 @Fedido @FrankEV Thank you, guys...sorry it took so long to respond...been busy closing on my new house, moving in, setting up the 2-car for a shop, furniture shopping...etc...you know the drill... I do believe in buying the best within available funds...except for some early mistakes I've made (like others) I've managed to line up a good set of woodworking tools. I had posted another thread where I bought an RBI Hawk 220 and love it. Now I'm anxious to get scrolling. I've since put it on wheels like some of the other machines I have in the shop and that works well. Thanks again for the welcome and advice...Nick
  2. I've used Porter Cable (usually) and some Diablo, (8-hole)...I've used the PC since my first ROS...Dewalts and Bosches. I buy them locally in 25 and 50 pack... They don't fill up unless used on poly, varnish, waxes or similar finishes...for that I use my Stanley 80 scraper or card scraper...(until my thumbs complain)
  3. ...now I have to clean my keyboard...ROFL...
  4. As a brand new "noob" and shopping for my first saw, I decided there was a quantum leap from inexpensive new to inexpensive used (Dewalt, Delta, Hawk, Hegner, etc...). So instead of spending 250-300 on a cheapie new, I spent 300 on a great condition Hawk. I've seen Hegner Multimax 18's for 250, 14's for less, Excaliburs for the price of new Dewalts and Deltas... I used Marketplace a lot looking at prices for the common saws most people use and/or recommend. Eventually I made my list of "top 5" and then just sat on Craigslist and Marketplace until I found a couple to look at and finally bought the Hawk. There was even a Hegner for 100...missed that one by a few hours... The whole process took me about a month from deciding to scroll to purchase. Lurked on several sites, searched archives, etc... joined here (CharleyL and others recommendation). I'm thinking that if you used a Hegner so much in the past, you're not likely to be happy with anything less...just sayin'...to me, occasional or extensive has nothing to do with it...each session on the saw will be more pleasurable for you on a Hegner-equivalent. My only experiences are those where I bought "cheapies" only to replace them soon after purchase (and not just tools).
  5. Nice job on the ever-increasing scope of the "honey-do" items... You don't know it but you just put me over the line on what to do with a 40x16 fenced in area the previous owner used for his German Shepherd...I kept looking at it and thought "what a beautiful spot to put a garden"... Yup, you guessed it...gonna tear the fence down, get rid of the gravel and seed it for the mower...(that is, hire somebody to do it) Garden looks good...drip line is a great idea...enjoy the harvest...
  6. Thank you...it will come in handy...!
  7. No attaboys...but the silver paper clip, now that will come in handy in case I run into a set of handcuffs...
  8. So sorry to hear...had them from middle of back to middle of chest along the ribs...didn't know they were shingles...thought it was a bunch of bug bites as I walked through tall grass to get to fishing spot...after a looooong time I saw doctor and he gave me some medicine (Lyrica, I think)...too late... Headache doesn't help either...rest, relax, get medical attention...get rid of that "mean-ness" quick as you can... Feel better soon...
  9. Prize...? Did I hear prize...?
  10. The 1/0 and 4/0 might be the wire size to be clamped... Now, if I'm right, there'll be no calling me an "old timer" ...
  11. I'm guessing one half of a clamp...nut/bolt through the middle...the other half is still in the ground...
  12. G'morning...have you checked the blade to table for 90 at both the top and bottom of the stroke...?
  13. Is it possible that you may have loosened the tension handle too far and may have lost the crown nut on the bottom side of the upper arm, in line with the post holding the blade tension handle...? (see part 263T in parts list and diagram)
  14. Evaporust...I will definitely put it on my shopping list... I restored a Lion miter knife, and other oldies, with a 50/50 acetone/ATF solution, wet paper, rust slurry and elbow grease...now I know better for my future "ole arn" finds... ...but I have to say, I would never have thought of molasses...
