  1. I have reported to Inkspace, I noticed on their page that they are experiencing a few problems with the version 1.3.1 and the alignment issue was mention. Thank you for your assistance, it’s truly appreciated.
  2. So after a lot of fiddling I think I got it right, I still can’t get the align & distribute to work correctly, so I had to align them manually using the rulers which is not ideal. I really don’t know where the problem lies, I’m at wits end because something that should not have me more than a hour has take me 1/12 days. Adding to my frustration we have load shedding and are without power for 11.5 hours a day. So when do have power it’s a big scramble to get batteries charged and do things that you need to do when you do have power. So I have attached my attempt it may not be perfect but at least I got it done and I happy with the result despite all the software problems. Thank you so much for your help, I have to now try and resolve the software issue before I can carry on with the course.
  3. Thank you will try that.
  4. Since my post I have seen a post from Inkspace that they recommend users with Windows 10 and above not to download from their site but rather download from the Windows Shop site which I have done. I’m running a legal purchase of Windows 10 and Office 365, so zI don’t know where the problem lies. I hope the f attached file works. Test.svg
  5. Hi all, All right I know there’s another Forum for software, but I need some help urgently please. I am currently doing Travis’s Inkspace course and am busy with Lesson 3 where you have to do a design of the American Flag. Now I’ve done the stripes, the top right hand side Blue block (that holds the stars) but now the wheels come off, I try to align and distribute the stars and it does not work, tried a previous version, did not work downloaded the latest version 1.3.2 and it does not work. The software is running on a iMac with windows 10 installed, I must say Gimp works fine, so I can only assume that maybe there’s a switch in preferences that needs to be set, I don’t know I am technically challenged when it comes to software, so any help would be appreciated.
  6. Okay it’s all sorted out thanks.
  7. Hi Travis, gees the wheels have off before I really got going in lesson One, I created the rectangle, tried the resizing of the rectangle, but when I try to round the corners it does not work at all, what must I do?
  8. OCtoolguy my “Wen” does not give trouble at all but over a period of a few years, you experience blades breakages especially the #0 and #01 because they so thin they loose their sharpness quite quickly when doing a double stack, and one tens to push the blade to do just one more cut before you replace it. Hence I need to replace the Blade Tension Set, which as stated our suppliers don’t have stock or they don’t know what I’m talking about or respond to emails. The joys of staying in Africa service is not important.
  9. Redline you not alone I stay in South Africa nobody has the Blade Tesion Set as they call it, it ticks me off because this is a vital spare part, can’t even get a expected delivery date. I tried in vain to get a machine shop to make me a few of the tension nut nobody is interested in helping you. Added to my frustration I have a stock of the tension rods, but I can’t get the nuts separately or complete. Ryobi, Wen, Record, Delta, Martlet to name a few are all the same footprint and the parts are interchangeable, yet nobody has stock.
  10. Okay did a search Poly would cost me $10 for a liter, much cheaper option even if I add the thinners in for spraying. As I add stain and color to my wildlife cuttings I presume I would do that first, and then apply a few coats of Poly as suggested in the postings.
  11. Thanks for the replies Polyurethane is definitely worth considering, I was sold on the idea that you had to soak your cutting in a Tung ( Danish Oil ) to protect it and seal it. Spraying poly on would do the same thing if I read the replies correctly. I am paying just short of $30 for 500ml of Danish Oil, Poly is much cheaper.
  12. What suggestion out there as to the wood treatment Danish Oil has become ridiculously expensive here in S A. What other alternatives can I try that will give me result bearing in mind I often add colour and apply a clear varnish to finish.
  13. Heppnerguy, thank you for your comments it’s truly appreciated, just try and put my own personality in each cut. Roberta, thank for your kind comments, just take one hole at a time.
  14. rdarelle, Thank you so much it was a huge task, so pleased that I’m the first person (based on my research) that was Insane enough to attempt it but I’m super happy with the result.
  15. Thank you Jerry, it was a lot of work but we’ll worth the effort.
  16. Thank you everyone for your kind words, I am truly Blessed that the Talent, Skill and Techniques comes from above, I’m so Blessed.
  17. Thanks so much Scrapple, I Han the project in my head and I’m so proud it turned out like it did. My little modified Wen came to the party again.
  18. Thank you so much it’s truly appreciated.
  19. Thank you, I am not a time keeper but what I can tell you it took me seven weeks cutting a few hours a day when we had power.
  20. Thank you so much for your kind words, coming from South Africa it’s part of us, I am super proud of it.
  21. Thank you for you comments, sadly I’m in limbo at the moment most of my workshops is being packed up due to anticipated re location to Cape Town, so I will only be able to do the backer, back round and framing sometime in January. I only have the scroll saw available so I’m just cutting and cutting.
  22. So to day I post my African Big Five cut (remember my Lion Project) well this is it. The Big Five is very special to all South Africans because it’s part our heritage. Before I tell you what the problems were and how I approached them, please don’t tell me you don’t like the colour of the back round or the texture of the board is not right that’s immaterial, just look at the cuttings and the work, put into it. All the patterns are Russ Beard Patterns, the cuttings were all double stack 4mm Birch Plywood the Lion is the Centre price and was cut on a 11”x14” my standard board size, the Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino had to be reduced in size keeping a eye on the aspect to keep the proportions right, but by reducing the size made the cuts more difficult, adding to the problem only the Lion was a Free Standing Pattern the others were all inboard patterns so with Russ’s approval and help from my wife Loraine how is a great artist we converted the patterns on the fly to stand alone pattern of Ouse the Elephant had to bigger to.Time plenty hours, holes I estimate between 3000-5000 holes cuts. The patterns were soaked in Danish Oil drained and excess wiped off allowed to dry for two days and the two coats clear varnish. This type of cut deserves a very special back round so I will be taking a photo of the African Savannah and glue that to the backer and the the cuts on top of that in layers. I’m very happy with the results even though the stain was unpredictable the colour of the animals can vary from area to area so it does not bother me.
  23. Thank you Dennis.
