Doing a Florida vacation and wanted a you boat to play with. Didn't finish. I didn't realize how long and messy fiberglass can be. (I thought I had a picture of that part but don't) Also first time cutting at a slant and using 1.5inch thick wood by laminated 2 boards together.

Book: Circular Scroll Saw Designs by Charles Hand
Ceric ME replied to Tom-in-Ashland's topic in General Scroll Sawing
Debind it. Is there enough room to put holes in the pages to put the book in a binder? That's what I did with my introductory scroll saw book. I used a razor as I didn't have my scroll saw yet but it should be relatively easy with the scroll saw to cut off the binding then you can take the pages out and they'll be flat so you can scan them and make a copy as a pattern. -

Clock is on my list of things I want to make. Then After a clock that I didn't do the motion for I like to make one motion and all. Great work.

I've been using a cheap analog gauge for degrees from Harbor Freight. You have to wait for it to settle down but it's alright. The digital ones are nicer. Just make sure the Table/Stand you saw is on is 0 degree or it won't work correctly. I've also tried to use an angle finder, the type you can put to an angle and then lock down, it's just to long for what I'm trying to do.

Yesterday I threw together a zero clearance insert made out of a poplar scrap and a Zero clearance fence made out of some half inch ply. That looked to help. I'm going to have to do something about the fence though as now all the chips kick back at me.

Hello Forums, I've got a 12" Miter Saw and I like being able to cut straight with it but the blade it came with leads the edge with bits I have to sand of. As I primarily use it to cut wood for scroll sawing and blades are $40+ I like to get everyone's opinion. What is a good blade for a Miter saw that gives a nice cut on 1/8th to 3/4 inch material that needs minimal cleanup? If blades where cheaper I just try a bunch but not at that price.

I thought it was going to be Mother Related. I wonder if I can get a bird into the Squirrel feeder I need to make or the boat...

What do you think of this drill press?
Ceric ME replied to Dave Monk's topic in General Scroll Sawing
I love my Miter saw. I have the DeWalt one https://www.dewalt.com/products/power-tools/saws/miter-saws/15-amp-12-in-electric-singlebevel-compound-miter-saw/dws715 My first "Large" tool purchase was this for a bit less then $300. We got it do trim. Haven't done the trim yet but man did it open up my woodworking capability. Now with that said now that I've gotten into Scroll Sawing I wish I would have ponied up the extra many and gotten a sliding compound miter saw for the extra width it can cut. At the time we debated between that for the future but, my wife and I couldn't really justify it. It would be really handy to be able to cut a full 12+ inch wide board. Especially since setting everything up to use the circular saw is a pain once you just walked over, lined the wood up, and zip cut to where you want. Also while I know a table saw is suppose to be one of those things every woodworker just happens to have. The cost and the space I can't justify. -
Kingfisher Segmentation -FRAMED
Ceric ME replied to Frank Pellow's topic in Works In Progress & Tutorials
I look at the segmentation done by others and I keep wondering how come I don't see any drill holes. -
I like to point out that at that cost unless there the size of 50 cent pieces, it be cheaper to cut quarters. This is on my list to try with book cutting. I have the books to cut I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Also I like the bronze around the edge.

What do you think of this drill press?
Ceric ME replied to Dave Monk's topic in General Scroll Sawing
I've have this Wen Drill Press (I received it for Christmas part of the reason I was able to get my scroll saw) https://www.homedepot.com/p/WEN-10-in-Variable-Speed-Drill-Press-4212/204853908 Having the adjustable speed on the side is nice. The laser eats batteries. You can adjust how far down it goes. I have a cheap vice for it and clamp that goes in the table for long wood I've drilled. The chuck is rated for 1 - 13mm but, I've put a bit in it that is .66mm wide and it was secure. I can't tell you about the longevity. I've been quiet impressed for the cost. (It also has a little RPM Gauge on the front which is nice when trying to adjust to a recommended speed. Though I've mostly just keep it at the lowest for wood now.) I did "upgrade" it with a sewing light (Magnetic light with a stem) so I could see the drilling area better. If I ever need to by another there are some scenarios where to be nice to be able to bring the head out from the table. Though maybe by that time I might get to big for my britches (and shop) go actively see about scoring a Lathe.
