  1. Fantastic work, WolfmoonCT. I love the woodgrain in both projects. To me, woodworking is being able to enjoy the beauty of the wood and you sure captured the beauty in these two pieces.
  2. I finally got my hands on some quality 1/4 inch BB and wanted to try stack cutting. This is a Steve Good pattern and was cut with #3 MGT. I finished them with natural and red pine Minwax followed by 4 coats of clear gloss with light 300 grit sanding between coats. I wanted to keep the thickness to a minimum so the backer board is actually heavy card stock that has been lightly painted (which seem to work fine). Hope you enjoy.
  3. Very nice piece.
  4. Good cutting, Frank. If my wife puts her eye on this I know what I'll be cutting out next.
  5. Very nice, WoodCutter. Great job and the frame works perfectly.
  6. Nice pieces. Hope they turn out to be hot items at the flea market. I've been attempting to try playing with patterns in Inkscape. I'm doing good to change the black on an existing pattern to gray and the cut lines red.
  7. Fantastic Paul. And I need to thank you for my latest project. I pulled your pattern of a lion from the library. The pattern and cut were great, my choice of wood not so much. Fortunately my wife added her touch with paints and it turned out great. It's posted in the "Bragging Rights." BTW, the lion is the mascot at the school my wife works at. She plans to display it in her classroom when school starts.
  8. Awesome work as usual, Frank. Good luck with the surgery. Hope you mend fast and get back on the saw soon.
  9. Nice work DanJ84. I agree, one of the best actors out there.
  10. You can always say you planned it that way! Regardless, great work. Love the inlay.
  11. Thanks Frank. Right now the edges are exposed. I was planning on cutting some lumber for a frame but the material I have on hand was just to warped and twisted. Thanks for the info on the "L" molding. I'll definitely check that out and will be going to Lowe's this coming weekend. We are in the middle of a bathroom remodel and have an order to be picked up on Sunday. I agree that the wife is the one who "MADE" this project. She is an art teacher and her eye is much better than mine when it comes to colors. I've tried to get her interested in scrolling but she has no desire to work with tools. Maybe my best tactic would be to do the cuts and let her do the finishing.
  12. Very nice work, Rocky.
  13. Nice work. I believe you would do well with an Etsy account.
  14. Great job, Frank. I don't think you went wrong with the red felt however I don't think CSull is wrong thinking a blue would have worked. Fact is, the piece is so beautiful it doesn't matter what color liner was used.
  15. Welcome Jon. I'm a new scroller also and have gained a lot of knowledge from the vast experience of others on this forum. Happy scrolling!
  16. Very nice job, Denny. I'm partial to animal art.
  17. Okay, I may have slipped up. The wife decided she was not happy with it and took over the project. As much as I like the contrast in the grain and agree with many who have commented that the lion looks like he is peering through slats with a ray of sunlight across his face, the wife did a fantastic job with her finishing touches.
  18. I've been working on this project for about a month. (I only get to work at scrolling about a day or day and a half per week.) The wood is from a discarded table and is MDF with veneer on both sides. It is 3/4 inches thick and very heavy. The piece is 11 x 14 and the pattern is from "Grandpa." (Thanks Paul) I cut it using Pegus MGT #3 and #5 and also some FD #5 UR. I finished it with natural oil and gave it a half dozen coats of clear gloss. I chose this piece of wood because I thought the dark and light grain in the veneer was unique but now that the project is finished I wonder if I made the right decision. The picture makes it appear to have a rough finish but it is actually very smooth. My wife works for a school and the mascot is a lion. She has already claimed it as her own and she is happy with it. I guess I should just remember the old saying, "Happy Wife, Happy Life!"
  19. Nicely done!
  20. Very nice, Woodrush. Would like some details... wood, blade, etc. Regardless, you did a great job.
  21. Remember that we are our own worst critic. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And from what I see, it is beautiful. I think you did a great job and I'm sure your wife thinks so too.
  22. Fantastic scrolling. I'm sure your friend will be pleased.
  23. Very nice work, alexfox. Very unique. I also do a lot of horse scrolling primarily because I live in a very rural area where there are a lot of horse people. Better opportunity for sales although most of my projects in the short time I've been scrolling have been gifts or donations. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
  24. Welcome from SE NC. The scrolling bug is hard to shake after it bites.
  25. Welcome from SE North Carolina. I'm new to scrolling (about 3 months) and purchased an inexpensive saw to start. I'm already saving for a better saw. The hobby is very addictive as I'm sure you'll find out. Nice work on your projects. Looking forward to seeing more.
