Some one mentioned that linseed oil is flammable, and I'm shur mineral spirits are, maby not when dry.
I think Frank had a idea with the cutting board oil.
I'ts all good,I can't comment on beards ,but I still have hair at 65.
And a heat gun, 1.00 at yard sale, has settings from 1_5 .I think Dan's idea of mineral spirits, but what mix at 50/50?
Wanting to try a trivet pattern, and this may be a gift. Any one know of a clear finish that would work if a hot pan is put into it. Pattern thanks to bobscroll.
Thanks Dan,but not experienced yet to free hand, this puzzle will have large pieces. It's for a young family member with trouble concentrating, that free hand cutting looks like fun tho.
I have a puzzle pattern to cut, and a state map I want to attach to the finished pattern. I was thinking about how to best do it.
Cut pattern and attach picture to the cut out, or is their a better option possibly attach the picture to wood, spray something to protect picture then use masking tape over picture and attach puzzle pattern to the masking tape.
Thanks, if I can Pozsgai's Designs had the same kit, very easy to convert, I was able to use #0 spiral blades on a project.
Eventually I would like to combine the scroll cutting and making designs for bowl turning. Sort of like Scrappile posted, I need a lot of practice!
I have been looking at websites and gotten some ideas including a clamp system for the blade. I don't know if I can name businesses, but the blade clamps with the saw are a frustrating turn off. Also I bolted the saw to a heavy table, that is fastened to the floor. Right now I am working on cutting ON THE LINE.
Thanks for your advice from the group, Scrappile I hope to be able to be able to cut like that some day,my bowl projects are on the phone.
I look forward to learning
I do more bowl turning and bowl segmented things at this time, but wanting to make some bowls and things with a scroll saw I picked up at HF. I have always wondered what advantages the more expensive saws have and is this a good saw to learn on.
Is it good to learn on a good saw or something more expensive?
