  1. The store i was in didn't have one on display, some of the stores don't have room to display all machines.
  2. Maybe it's the speed I cut and the thickness of the wood plus the angle all together, I still think the hawlk is great to use for cutting patterns,I purchased the other saw mainly because I like to make the bowls. I will be shur to clean out the motor and speed pod on the next pattern. I also want to give the new saw a good deal of use at least for the next few months.
  3. I purchased the warranty because a lot of things I cut are 1/2 in. and at a 30deg. angle, I noticed the motor on the hawk was getting hot after cutting a couple of rings, no issues with the motor on the Bauer. I figured after two years I should have enough bowls cut.
  4. I use to watch a show with dad that every thing was made with hand tools, he had a scroll saw that was driven by the feet, like the sewing machine my mom had when I was 6.
  5. Great job on both I especially like the bowl, something for me to strive for. Winter season brings new projects.
  6. Nice :I can relate!
  7. Amassing details, I stop at 5 holes.
  8. Thanks for sharing, I downloaded the free plans they offered, easy to make, and I plan to make some for grand kids and nephews kids.
  9. Very well done
  10. This this pattern reminds me of our dog Rambo. Pattern by A-nder Yalmaz from pets patterns. Cut on the new saw.
  11. This this pattern reminds me of our dog Rambo. Pattern by A-nder Yalmaz from pets patterns.
  12. I purchased a extra two year warranty, I figured if it would break or something I would be able to get a replacement. I don't want to rebuild a saw.
  13. Thanks for the update, on mine I have a block of wood I set under the arm that is high enough to raise the arm. The saw is working great, and thanks for the original post.
  14. Congratulations on a great sale. How well do the bowls sell?
  15. From a pattern from a book called scroll saw wooden bowls ,by Carole Rothman.
  16. So I have been using mine for a few hours cutting 3/4 in. poplar at a 30 deg. angle using a pegas blade, I haven't had any problems, just throwing it out there.
  17. The review has me interested, the vac I use now is verry noisy, even in a cabinet, but it was like 30 dollars.
  18. Was referring to the first HF scroll saw we purchased, the green one. A starter saw but not even close to the new bauer saw.
  19. Thanks to all and without the help from you guys ,I might still be struggling with the original green machine.
  20. From what I read from the posts, I did purchase one of these today, I have a thing for making bowls and inlay patterns. I cut one ring of 1/2 inch maple about eight inches in diameter, I thought it went well. I am concerned about the blade tension handle made from plastic. I plan on giving it a good test run the next few weeks.
  21. I do some bowl making,I am watching this thread and would like to see how you like the new saw. If cutting a 30 degree angle on a pattern, its important the angle doesn't change. I do ok with the Hawk I bought from Kevin but maybe the arm tilted and the table flat would be better.
  22. What advantage is a arm that tilts if not doing a lot of inlay?I am curious if the arm stays at angle desired for long periods.
  23. I purchased a book that is bowls from boards, most are 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick, the challenge is cutting the pattern so not to need to sand a lot. Lol. Bowls are easy to set on the shelf and hide around the house. Have you thought about the car and truck kits you build from wood? My dad and brother made a few, sadly I didn't get one when dad passed, but they were given to nephews so that's ok too. I don't think any thing mom and dad crafted was thrown away.
  24. One thing about harbor freight warranty, if you purchase it ,return when something wears out,my worries are with any machine can it be repaired, or parts available.
  25. Pellet stove and well insulated shop wood on floor ,I feel lucky to have the shop to play in.
