  1. Thank you Scrappile, my painting leaves something to be desired though !
  2. Had this machine for a couple of years now although here in the UK it is sold by Axminster Tools and is known as the AT535SS. A very nice machine with Pegas blade clamps and tilting arm as opposed to a tilting table. The saw runs very quiet and smooth. Highly recommended.
  3. These are my first attempts at compound scrolling. The patterns are from a book " 3-D Patterns for the Scroll Saw " by Diana Thompson. Regards, Alan.
  4. Steve's Scroll saw Workshop was the first place I came across when I became interested in scrolling as a hobby. I have made quite a few of Steve's patterns and as Jim McDonald says above have learned much from him. These 2 patterns were my first attempts at using more than 1 layer of wood and although I still have much to learn, I was quite happy with the results.
  5. A happy and peaceful new year to everyone in the village.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm always on the lookout in second hand furniture shops for any decent pieces of wood suitable for scrolling. Happy New Year !
  7. Thank you, the size is approximately 8.5 x 11.5 inches or A4 paper size. It is cut from quarter inch birch plywood which was stained with a light oak stain. The edging is simply a strip of pine wood.
  8. Hey everyone, Been working on this Owl pattern on and off for a couple of weeks now, finished it today. This is my first project using a spiral blade ( Pegas no.3 ) I added a white backer board for the moon and some edging strip for a frame. The pattern is from the village pattern library but I cannot find it again to give credit to the designer, but thank you for a lovely pattern. Hope you all had a merry Christmas and all the best for a happy and peaceful New Year. Regards, Alan.
  9. Wow ! I think I still have a lot to learn ! Very nice indeed.

  16. Visually striking and beautifully made.
  17. Thank you for your kind comments.
  18. This was made from 2 seperate patterns courtesy of the Scrollsaw Workshop. I combined the 2 patterns to create this Heart of love. Regards, Alan.
  19. Hey everyone, Here is my latest project. The pattern is called "Cottontail Express" and is from a book I purchased called "North American Wildlife Patterns For The Scroll Saw" by Lora S. Irish. I think the wood is Yew as I was given a piece some months ago and it is about 3/4 of an inch thick. After cutting, I simply gave it a couple of coats of oil. Hope you like it, constructive criticism welcomed, Regards, Alan.
  20. Nice detail and presentation.
  21. Hello Pete and welcome. I only recently joined the village myself but have picked up quite a few tips already. Regards, Alan. ( Thurlstone, South Yorkshire ).
  22. Thanks for the kind comments, I purchased the LED's (or Light Emitting Diodes) to give them their correct name from Amazon. They are very cheap to buy and come in various colours. The ones I used were 5mm but other sizes are available. The LED has 2 legs, the longer one is the positive and the shorter one is the negative connection. I soldered the 2 positive legs together and the 2 negative legs together, then simply connected a 3V watch battery to power them. I have included a picture of some green and white LED's. I hope this helps, Alan.
  23. A Halloween Bat I made earlier today. The pattern is courtesy of Scrollsaw Workshop. I then drilled 2 holes and added 2 red LED's for the eyes powered by a 3V watch battery. Regards, Alan.
  24. Made this Bat for Halloween earlier today. The pattern is courtesy of Scrollsaw Workshop. I then drilled 2 small holes and added 2 red LED's for the eyes. A small 3V watch battery powers them. Alan. May have posted this in the wrong section, apologies.
  25. Hey everyone, Joined the village a couple of days ago, here are my latest creations. Still a lot to learn but enjoying the journey ! Regards, Alan. .
