  8. Alex, Can you share the name of the store? Thanks
  9. Steve Good has some plans of a jig for compound cuts. This is what I use. http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.ca/2012/07/scroll-saw-compound-cut-clamp.html In his instructions he shows drawing lines on the wood but i just attached the pattern to the wood and cut it. Kurt

  12. I don't wear a mask but Steve Good did a review on a Totobobo mask back in 2011. This one looks interesting. Here are the links to it http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.ca/2011/09/totobobo-dust-mask-quick-review.html http://totobobo.com/index.html
  13. When you download a font it is usually a zip file. You can usually right click on the zip file and extract the files, this will create a folder with the font file you need and sometimes a read me file that will tell you all the legal stuff. Right click on the font file and select "Install font" this will install the font and you will be able to use it in whatever program you are using. If you have a program open when you install the font you will have to close the program and re-open it for the program to be able to use the font that you just installed. Kurt
  14. Maybe put a link to a website/picture so people can help you figure this out.
  15. I have to agree with DW laser is the way to go, don't waste you money on inkjet printers and the ink. Laser printers are much more cost effective. If i buy a toner for my laser at approx $50 and has a page yield of 1200 pages that's only 4 cents a page but i could save even more if i buy a high yield toner for $75 that prints 2600 pages so it works out to just under 3 cents a page. If i do the same for my inkjet printer it was around $25 for the black ink and the page yield is 400 so its around 6 cents a page. I would have to buy 6 inks($150) to 1 high yield toner($75). So on 1 toner i would save $75. Also keep in mind that toner doesn't dry out if you don't use it like the ink always seem to do just when you need to print something right away. I know these are only averages but you might want to invest in a laser printer if you do a lot of printing. Oh ya these are Canadian prices. Kurt
  16. I would recommend a laser printer. I have a Wireless Brother laser printer(DCP-L2520DW) that scans, copy and prints, I found it on sale for $100 about 2 years ago and still using the toner that came with it. The replacement toner for the printer is not very much either i have seen them for $50 and you get approx 1200 pages from 1 toner. Kurt
  17. Dave you have mail. Kurt
  18. Dan, I am not sure about the fonts that come with Open Office as I don't use the program. Fonts are normally installed on the system not in the program so if the font is on the system then the program should be able to use the font. Did you restart you computer after installing Open Office? Kurt
  19. Make sure you are downloading from www.OpenOffice.org Kurt
  20. You need to install the font. Most of the time when you download a font it is a zip file. You need to unzip or extract the files to be able to install the font. Right click on the file and go to "Extract All" make sure you select "Show extracted files when complete" just makes it easier to find the files. Extract the files and the folder with the font files will open, right click on the font file and select "Install" this will make it available in your list of fonts. Cheers Kurt
  21. I do the same as dgman(Dan) and haven't had an issue.
  22. Tried them, hated them, haven't used them since.
  23. They say that you can raise and lower the arm with the upper arm adjuster(knob at the back) to use a different part of the blade. This is from the manual: "This saw has an adjustment knob K in the rear that can raise the blade mount up to 1†(25 mm). This allows you to fine tune blade tension when needed, as well as to reposition the saw blade at a point where you can use a different part of the blade in the cutting area. This also allows you to use a piece of band saw blade, cut to a length of 5â€- 6†(127-150 mm) in your saw, and gives you up to 3 inch cutting capacity when needed. Note: Do not over tension the knob as this can cause premature wear and damage to the machine." I have also read that it is best to leave the arm level, that's what I do.
  24. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this book. You have all done a great job. I will be making a donation to the Rock95 Toy Drive. http://rock95.com/rock-95kool-fm-toy-drive/
  25. I am sure there will be a lot of people that use FD blades, including me. I have never had an issue with the blades. Cheers
