  1. This might not be the exact same but I was doing a lot of oak cuttings and I was getting a buildup of black stuff on the bottom of my wood along the cut lines and it was a pain to sand off. t took me a bit to figure it out but I did. I tried different painters tape and spray glue but it was the packaging tape that i was using, as soon as I changed the type of tape it went away. I never did go back to that tape on other woods but I know I have not had it since I changed tape. It might be something to consider trying. Kurt
  2. I just bought a Brother laser printer http://www.brother.ca/en-CA/MFC/5/ProductDetail/DCPL2520DW picked it up on sale for $99 and so far so good haven't had any issues with it. This one is wireless or USB only I got one with a scanner to make copies of the patterns from the magazines.
  3. This sounds like a good test, I am going to try it next time I am out in the shop. When I first started scrolling I never had a dust collector but after scrolling I would be coughing and my nose would be all stuffed up. I bought a dust collector and it made a world of difference. No more coughing or stuffed nose. My setup is not perfect but its still a work in progress. As you can see from the picture below my saw it doesn't get all the dust but I have very little dust on my table when cutting.
  4. I say add a link into the top banner with the other ads. Not sure how you have those setup to rotate but even if the Amazon link shows up on once in a while it might create more traffic to Amazon.com. I for one wouldn't mind it being there if it helps support this site. Cheers
  5. I do agree this is the best scroll sawing forum. One thing I have been meaning to do is become a supporter of this site but just keep forgetting about it. I'm not going to forget this time. LOL gonna go get my credit card right now
  6. They look very good. Might have to steal that idea. I made a name plaque for someone at work and I ended up getting lots of orders for them. I think I have made about 20 of them so far. If someone wants to pay for them I wouldn't so no. Helps pay for supplies.
  7. I use painters tape on the top only. Then packaging tape on top of the pattern.
  8. Another Canadian here, Angus Ontario. It's a small town about 1 hour north of Toronto.
  9. Congrats, Clayton. but I am jealous.LOL
  10. I have a DW788 and top feed only.
  11. I think the nightlight would work. Great job on the cutting.
  12. Nice work, Love the old Mustangs.
  13. Those are all VERY nice. Great work.
  14. Very nice cutting, I really like the frame.
  15. Great job, especially in that temperature. Hope you had some heat on.
  16. Thanks everyone. This is the pattern that I will be using. I had to change the name and company to post on here. The font I am using is Albertus Extra Bold. name placque1.svg
  17. Just landed a big order . A customer has ordered 9 desk name plaques. Similar to the one below but instead of hanging I have to make a base for them and use a different font. I am charging $50 each. I have to have them ready for the new year, thank god I don't have many Christmas orders left to complete. I better get working,LOL
  18. It's -4 (Celsius) here tonight, I think that is around 25 F. A couple of years ago I sectioned off an 8 x 10 area of my garage for my workshop. Now I go out and turn on the heater and I can usually get it up to a comfortable 20 degrees (Celsius) inside
  19. Sue might be know where you can get a good saw down there.
  20. I have to agree with Sully. Just in case you don't know who Mike is here is his website www.mikesworkshop.com
  21. I had the same problem a few times and did what Scrappile suggested and used the compressor to blow the dust out of the switch and it worked. After the last time it happened I bought foot switch and haven't had the issue since.
  22. I would definitely go for the 21". I used a 16" when I first started and a couple times I found that I could have used the extra space.
  23. Very nice! Cant wait to see it framed.
  24. That would explain why I don't know him. I have never watched Game of Thrones. Kurt
