  5. Welcome to SSV Barb You should start a new topic for yourself. Many will not see your post because members will only see Joe's name at the top. Go back to introductions and start a new topic with a heading for yourself
  6. well, what's up Russell? You a newby or a little bit of a scroller? Looks like you have a good saw and on a good learning track.

  12. I never did a scroll piece just to learn. All the scrolling I have ever done is because I liked it and my intent was to finish it. I learned on a straight blade and stuck to it, changing blades to accomplish what I needed. Of course I did try spiral but i could correct straight blade mistakes but not spiral ones

  15. Hello Pete and welcome to the SSV.
  16. Hi Alan, welcome to SSV
  17. I have two Delta 40 694's Both work very well. Just do a yearly maintenance. Both are over 20 years old and I am very happy with how they work
  18. I would use scrap and do both. experiment with the paint also. Then have your assessor, you or whoever decide what you like. Don't think anyone could make that decision except you.
  19. Just curious, does the same blade act the same way with 1 1\2 wood, 1 1\4, 1 inch wood ? How far can you reduce the wood thickness before it stops acting like the tension is loose? I assume you are experienced at cutting 1 7\8 thick wood of all types.
  20. 1 7/8 is out of my league. but welcome here.
  21. Welcome to SSV! Looks like you can teach a bit
  22. Made me laugh Marge. I am in the US and have a sister in Sweden, I cannot afford a simple little gift to her. Almost as cheap to fly over and visit.
  23. A two inch thick board of any wood is not easy to cut IMO.
  24. Oak is an easy wood to cut (for me). I have used many different blades depending on the size of the cut and complexity of the pattern. To expand your experience, try a few different blades.
  25. Welcome to the Village
