  4. I went to an Engine Show and Craft Fair this past weekend Aug 22-24. I met a chainsaw wood carver that does beautiful carvings. As I talked with him, he offered me some burls he cut from his logs. Check out his web site. Very interesting: www.oldorchardwoodcarvings.weebly.com Oh,BTW, I did fairly good on my sales.

  20. I was given an old burl and I have cut it into sections. It is old and is heavy spalted. I used spray lacquer on a piece and noticed that not all sections take the finish the same. I had one piece that kept absorbing and did not ever look like I put anything on it even after I soaked it in BLO. Should I try spray wax? There are nooks and cranies and a worm hole or two. Thanks all

  24. I've always heard that the wood is alive but having a brain, I'm not sure. That could be happening to me and I just don't know it.
