Hey Michael, Glad you joined us.
Be nice to hear a little about you, what saw you use, what you like to make,
where you live. WE love to here about you.
Hey Tom, Welcome to SSV.
It is good you are asking and learning about blades.
Read Woodworking & Crafts link to choosing the right blade.
Choosing the Right Blade - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts
A couple thoughts:
Wood type/hardness and thickness will require different blades
( How hard is the wood you are cutting? Go to the Janka Hardness Chart )
Don't buy a bunch of blades right off the bat. Different wood and patterns may require selective blades.
Eventually you will need containers to keep them organized and labeled.
Show us your first project and pile up that sawdust
Rocky's suggestion is a good one,

You could ask the question here in 'Scrollers Q&A' but
then you would get more that one suggestion.
Denny should lead you in the right direction. he has a scroll saw business and is a member here.
Here is my 'Two Bits'
The table insert is OK sitting East to West, the opening only needs to be enough so the blade is free of obstructions.
The length of the blade is made so it can be clamped top and bottom and tightened.
The toothed section length is only important to have teeth above the table top to make contact with the wood.
Have you tried cutting with the saw? I would suggest you attach a blade and turn the saw on.
Try cutting a piece of scrap wood. If that works then you are in business.
A pinned blade saw is not made for delicate FRET work but for cutting outlines
which is why most members have PINLESS blade saws.
Very pleased to have you as a member, the best to you and may you start pilling up the saw dust.
