  1. Thanks Mahendra. I hope you're keeping well.
  2. Welcome to the village. This is an excellent resource for information and help, if your getting back into scroll sawing. There are some great people here.
  3. Great work again, Kev.
  4. Thank you Marg. It means a lot coming from you, knowing the quality of your portraits.
  5. Hey everyone. Been busy, as usual - hope you're all good. Due to lack of time, I haven't managed to post for a while - so I thought I'd put a couple of new portraits on. They're both on decent quality Baltic Birch Ply (Marilyn has a Walnut stain to get the 'Film Noir' feel, and Elvis is still waiting for an oil and wax finish). As usual...I've got another 3 on the go (I think maybe it's time to complete one, before starting others). I'll have a look around at everyone elses new work, over the next day or so - always interesting to see how you're all getting on. Kindest Regards, as always, Nick
  6. Thanks Marg - we love it too...it's our company logo. Your kind words are much appreciated.
  7. Thanks for your kind words everyone. I've done some travelling in my time, but this really is the most welcoming village I've ever visited. Hey Mahendra, good to hear from you. Hope you're scrolling is improving. You seem very determined. I've read that you've started working on your own patterns.
  8. Really nice cut, Gator. Yeah, there's some nice patterns out there. I tend to work on my own - it's a sure way to get something that you really love to work with. Just starting to get into the Nouveau & Deco patterns at the moment. I've always loved them, but putting them on wood is really going to be a challenge. Looking forward to you're next piece - be sure to post.
  9. Impressive cuts again, Kev. I've had my fair share of tense moments with minuscule lines. I find that time always helps...I never seem to run higher than the slowest speed anymore. With detail, it's simply not worth risking the chance of ruining a really great piece. Stopping for a few minutes, and a quick breath of fresh air at the window also helps me to relax and focus. I'm sure everyone else has similar ways of holding their nerve. Well done, once again.
  10. Thanks Kev...I'm pretty sure you're more experienced than I am though, but the kind comments are very nice of you. I'm just trying to come up with a definate for the next one - I'll be sure to keep you all informed on what I decide.
  11. Thanks DW. The problem is, as always...choosing a new subject.
  12. Hey everyone. Hope you're all keeping busy. I just thought I'd share my latest with you. It only took around 3 hours, from image to pattern to finished cut - all went smoothly, 'without a hitch' Simply Baltic Ply, with a good quality finishing oil. I have been asked if I am willing to put on a small exhibition on the seafront, so I need to stock-up on a few new pieces. I'll post photo's of what I do, when time allows. Thanks for looking, and as usual, all comments are welcome. Kindest Regards, Nick @ tinkers-cove.com
  13. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your comments. I will post more when time allows.
  14. Hey everyone. I'm pretty new to the village, so I thought I'd add one of my portraits. I've only been scrolling for a short while, and this piece is only my 2nd attempt. All criticisms are welcome - we all live and learn. Thanks for looking. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  15. Hey Mahendra. Welcome - although I'm pretty new here myself. I am really surprised that scroll sawing is pretty unknown in India - I get quite a lot of inspiration for my work from your beautiful country. I'm currently working on templates of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and also Krishna. There is a lot of detail, so I think it may take a while. Maybe you can create a gallery yourself - it would be nice to see what you've created. I'm not really what you'd call an expert, but if you have any problems, I'll help if I can. Kindest Regards, Nick (East Coast UK)

  17. Hey, thanks everyone. This is such a friendly place to be - your kind words are really appreciated. I have started adding to my gallery, if anyone wants to see my work. I welcome all criticism. In the meantime, I think I'll have a slow walk through the village. Thanks all. Nick.
  18. Hey everyone. I started scrolling in mid 2012 after receiving a wooden scrolled piece as a gift. It was of Chinese origin, and the work was beautiful. I was so insired by it, that I immediately purchased my first scrollsaw. Although I have always been into art (Nouveau, Deco, Filigree etc), I have no history or background of woodworking at all. I simply started cutting, and it came to me instantly. I find that it is very satisfiying and rewarding when I have acheived the exact look of the subject. I have been known to completely scrap a pattern after many hours of work - If it's not quite right. I have recently started using pyrography to create the shading effect with much more detail. So, please feel free to take a look at my work, and all comments are greatly received (Good or Bad). Thank you, and "Happy Scrolling" Nick.
  19. 'Hey Everyone' - Newbie from the UK here (East Yorkshire), please feel free to take a look at my work and comment if you wish. Regards to all.
