  1. I always 'stack-cut' the thinner pieces, Doc...you never know (and the worst that can happen is that the others don't sell immediately, and you store them for a while). Nice job with the cutting.
  2. Hey Kevin...the sun tea sounds amazing. Count me in.
  3. Thanks everyone...it's great to hear from you all.. Hope you're all keeping well.
  4. Yeah...give it a go. Portraits are my thing, but this was really good fun. Especially the relief work - raising and lowering the pieces, really makes an interesting element. I'll add more as I finish them.
  5. Thanks for the feedback Roly. The software is called 'Pattern Wizard' and can be found here : http://pattern-wizard.en.softonic.com/ Open a photo into it, and use the 'Trace' feature. It simply lays a photo image, and allows you to fade it out and trace the main lines. any problems, give me a shout Roly. Many Thanks, Nick.
  6. Thanks Keefie. I need to practice a little...I think there's better to come. (No firewood as yet!)
  7. Small world my friend...my wife has fond memories of regularly visiting Polesworth Market.
  8. Thanks Bob. These are other images / patterns that I've worked on and re-sized. I do have software for creating segmentation pieces from photo, but it really does take quite a lot of time to get a detailed image.
  9. Thanks Doc...I'll keep at it now I've got a taste for it. Hope Leicester's good - I know it quite well...my wife is from Nuneaton and we lived there together for 5 years. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  10. Hey all...Hope everyone is good and busy scrolling. It's been pretty busy here, which is why I haven't been around for a while. I'm currently putting more stock together for a local market in Bridlington's Old Town. Every year in Early December, we have a Dickensian Festival constisting of various vendors of local produce and Christmas goods. Everyone gets involved with the Dickensian / Victorian dress code, which is always fun. This year, I'm putting together a display called "Beside The Sea", which will contain various traditional British seaside themed pieces. I recently decided to try my hand at Segmentation. These two are nearly 3ft in height and are mostly made from scrap pallets, or other offcuts. I have really enjoyed trying something new, and I'm sure I will now continue. The lighthouse colour piece is my second attempt, and I decided to try lifting the layers. (The actual lighthouse and bushes are all raised up). Thanks for looking, and as usual, I will spend a little time catching up on what your all doing (always interesting, and always surprised!). Kindest Regards, Nick
  11. Hey Doc. I only ever use 'Quick Mount' spray glue. Check the link below - you can usually get it a little cheaper if you look around. You need to shake it well, and only use a small amount. I'm not sure what the cheaper versions are like, but I've always been happy with the good stuff. I use it for mounting patterns to wood, as well as card backer plates. (Although small amounts of PVA are fine on card, if the card is pretty thick).# Hope this helps...Give me a shout if you want any more info. 12. WOW Kevin....."wifi" It's about time too - you've spent far too long struggling with your connection. It may be a little overwhelming...so don't get too excited! Happy surfing. (Good to see things are looking-up for you).
  13. Hey Dan...funny yo should say that...my wife mentioned it just a couple of days ago - that maybe I should put a quick pattern together. There's a good chance it will be on here in the next few days now ( thanks to your comment). It's our company logo, but strangely, I've never thought of cutting it??? Thanks Dan.
  14. Thanks Kev...you really are too kind (just one of the reasons that I love this place!)
  15. Hey Kev...are you sure that there's no Italian in you're family? Really nice suit - such a shame that it gets some use for a sad occasion.
  16. Beautiful pattern, Mahendra. I've been quite busy lately, but it's good to see you're all still supporting each other. (Particularly during such hard times elsewhere in the world right now.)
  17. Without a doubt, I'm pretty much Scroll Portrait through and through....but I get the feeling that I've been bitten by the 'Intarsia Bug'!
  18. Yeah, Dave / Bob...there's always something happening. It's always nice to check back every now and then.
  19. Hey everyone. Just thought I'd check in - every now and then work goes a little crazy! I've just had quite a lot to deal with lately. I've spend a good 40mins going through what's happening. It's great to hear how everyone is doing, and I see we've gained a few 'newbies'. (Which is always good). Oh, nearly forgot to say...I've taken the plunge, and gone for my 1st intarsia - not as difficult as I thought. Speak soon. Regards, Nick.
  20. Congratulations Roly. Every year is a milestone to celebrate.
  21. Good to hear from you Kev. Your internet problems seem to be never ending. Hang on in there...maybe it's time to set-up shop, by McDonalds drive through, permanently! Best wishes, Nick.
  22. Yeah Dale, I'm with Roly. It seems like a tension or speed problem. Also, have you checked that the blades are the correct length, and if they're actually fastened on tight enough? Kindest Regards, Nick
  23. Hey Mahendra...I really hope that I haven't missed your big day. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FRIEND".
  24. Hey Lorn, Welcome to the village. Kindest Regards, Nick (Bridlington) East Riding of Yorkshire.
  25. Congratulations Roly. Happy times ahead. Enjoy every minute my friend.
