  1. Hi Travis. I'll get my 3 boys to check it out. They're all into Lego and Minecraft. I'm surprised that the XBox hasn't given up before now! The worlds that they create on Minecraft really are amazing. It's funny how much detail kids pick-up on. Regards, Nick.
  2. Hey Marg...you know the saying -The Pencil is Mightier Than The Sword (I'm thinking maybe that should be "Saw" instead!)
  3. I once slipped with a Stanley knife and sliced a 6" gash up my inner thigh (just stopping before my groin!) But get this....1 month ago, I was searching in my key cabinet for the workshop keys. I thought the kids may have moved them, but no...they had dropped to the floor. Picking them up, I headed out to the back door - just as my mother-in-law came in through the front! I disappeared in the dust...NOW THAT WAS A CLOSE CALL! (Remember guys - Health & Safety...always keep one eye on the window.)
  4. I had a similar problem a while ago. Are you downloading photo's that are taken on an iPhone (or other hi resolution camera)? When uploading to SSV gallery, check the maximum photo resolution size...I can't remember exactly, but it does say at the bottom of the page. If you're still not sure, let me know and I'll re-post to Travis. Hope this helps. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  5. The fact that this post was started by Doug in the first place is really the true statement. It is a close community that can be judged by the comments posted by everyone here. SSV is what it is, due to Travis & Clayton....it will continue to be this way - thanks to the attitude of the residents and contributors. Pay if you can, and post comments if you can't. Keep up the good work, everyone. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  6. I hope everything is fine with you're recovery Jerry. Take it easy and stay safe.
  7. Keep up the good works Clayton...I'm sure it's appreciated by everyone. Thanks & Kindest Regards, Nick.
  8. This is simply great, Frank. I really love all intricate work, and the odd mistake is sometimes part of completing such an amazing piece. Just imagine who else could possibly do this (mistake free?). It's not noticeable, so it's not a problem. You have done Sully's pattern justice. Regards, Nick.
  9. These are great Todd...I love intricate work.
  10. I couldn't have said it any better, Marg. Unfortunately, typing words (text/PMs/emails) does not translate well into feeling and meaning. Vocal tones, and the way things are said are all too often lost this way when not actually talking. If you have apologised for the confusion Kevin...you have nothing to worry about.
  11. Wouldn't know if Santa is at our local Garden Centre, Roly - I haven't been since last December. I walked through the entrance and said "Good Morning...do you have any holly?" to whom I thought was a member of staff. It was actually a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Alan Titchmarsh and a party of senior citizens found my mistake hilarious! (That said...I haven't been back since.) This years holly will be purchased online! Regards, Nick.
  12. Very nice work Gator. I love working with floral.
  13. Thanks everyone. Your comments are always welcome (and always inspiring, coming from professionals like yourselves.)
  14. Great cutting Katie. Keep up the good work.
  15. Excellent work! Thanks for showing.
  16. Hey all. Just thought I'd post a few photo's of the most recent pieces. The Dickensian festival went well, with lots of interest in the commissioned portraits. I've also started using my Sue Mey Wedding Heart pattern. To get it good takes a lot of time, but it is worth every minute when finished. The example names are from an unknown source from quite a while ago - I used them because they fill the banner nicely (If anyone knows who the designer is I'll be happy to name drop). It's cut with 4mm BB Ply and backed with 12mm. Hope you like them. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  17. Just wanted to wish our American cousins a very "Happy Thanksgiving". I hope that you and your families all have an amazing time (and don't let too much dust build up on the scroll saw!) Kindest Regards to all, Nick.
  18. Oh no...don't get on her wrong side Sully - there's always the chance that the photos may go viral on Facebook! LOL (I can kinda understand that you'd be caught up in the moment though...I'm sure I would - knowing how much work the fine machine may have already done (and you taking it on further).
  19. Ohhh...how true. Probably the the ultimate answer! (Take note Travis) LOL
  20. Don't let 'Your Better Half' catch you, Sully...you'll be in the dog house for throwing your attention elsewhere! LOL
  21. ...whilst plucking the blade (to achieve that magical tensioned sound) - you suddenly feel an overwhelming sense of calm and serenity...(or maybe that's just obscure old me!) LOL.
  22. Very nice cutting, Dick. I love lots of detail - it's always a long haul, but definitely worth all the effort.
  23. Hmmm...a day or so? I think we may be talking weeks here. LOL
  24. Couldn't agree more Roly.
  25. Nice work Don.
