  1. Hey Stephen. I'm loving the trees especially. I presume the background is burnt and then sanded. It gives a great look. Nice work. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  2. My thoughts exactly Marg. We're shunned by the masses, and pushed out of society. Eventually, there's only one place left for us...(Why do you think so many of us end up here LOL!) Welcome to the village Stephen...we're quite normal really. Kindest Regards, Nick (East Coast - UK)
  3. Hi Gator. I started working with felt quite a while ago. Even the best quality felt us reasonably priced if you shop around, and it makes an interesting difference to standard backing. (Particularly on portraits). I simply adhere it to the backing board with decent PVA glue (just on the areas that the portrait top will touch) and then repeat with the portrait top board when the backer is dry. You can use different colours to create interesting effects depending on your subject piece. Hope this helps. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  4. Nice work Frank. Thanks for showing.
  5. Hey Bruce. Welcome to our village. Have a walk around and make yourself at home. You really will be amazed with our talented residents. Everyone is friendly, and you really must feel free to ask for assistance (there is always someone on hand - whatever the issue). Kindest Regards, Nick (East Coast - UK)
  6. Good to hear your ok. People were starting to worry. Have a great time in Spain. Regards, Nick.
  7. Hi Kevin. I've done a little work with the sailboat, but the image isn't too clear. What I have come up with will give you the option of both if you use a little imagination. It's far from perfect, and I can put more time in if you struggle. You can probably work with the detail here, or as you also said - an outline is even easier to use. Let me know how you get on, and I can add more if you wish. Good luck friend, Kindest Regards, Nick.
  8. Nice work DW. I've never attempted to cut a bowl or plate, but I have many patterns.(Someday eh)....but yours is up there with the best I've seen. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  9. Thanks Ron. The new stuff is quite an English tradition and not easy to explain. I'll find some photos to show first, before I start my work. Regards, Nick.
  10. Hope everything goes well for your aunt, Sul.
  11. Chai with cardamon milk for me please Ron. Busy weekend coming up - just preparing to start work on my newest segmentation piece. I've never attempted anything of this particular style before, and it will take a LOT of freehand drawing prep on template image. Details to follow (if all goes well!) Regards, Nick.
  12. Hey Jeffert. Hope all's good. I've put a couple of things together for you. There are 2 tiara images, and 2 bedroom door plaques - (others say these sell well). Feel free to change them as you wish. I have also made an alternative name plate. Simply stack cut them - then split them and add the child's name of your choice under the tiara image. (The font used is called 'Rumpelstiltskin and can be found anywhere - just google it). If I can be of any more help, just ask. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  13. Take it easy Kevin - don't do too much too soon. Before working on the sailboat, do you need a shaped wooden image, or an actual detailed scroll pattern? As soon as I know, I'll get on to it for you. Regards, Nick.
  14. Sorry...forgot to ask - do you want the sailboat image to be a wooden cut-out shape, or a scroll pattern with detail? Regards, Nick.
  15. Kevin...is this something like what you're looking for? All ideas welcome from anyone. Regards, Nick.
  16. Hi Kevin. Again, Rapid Re-Sizer will be needed. Not sure on the font position so I have done 2 to choose from. Any changes needed, just say. Regards, Nick.
  17. Hey Steve...just 2 things - feel welcome, and post often. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  18. Oi...Keith. Amateur? No, I don't think so - as many others here will confirm. Another good cut. Regards, Nick.
  19. Hi Kevin. I've done a little work on the 1st request. The others will take a longer, but hang on in there. I'm not sure if you use 'Rapid Re-sizer', but that's probably your best option for getting the size that you want. I've tried saving the images to you're sizes but it won't for some reason. For the main image, just take out the corners of the border, and insert the filigree corners of your choice - I've attached 2, but if you want any more just let me know. (Print 4 of them and add to your pattern as you wish). Any other help, give me a shout. I will work on your other requests over the next day or so. Hope this helps, Kindest Regards, Nick.
  20. I'm loving this Ron. Cool detail work (shows experience). Regards, Nick.
  21. Hahaha...nice one Roly. His gladioli were in the back of his jeans, and he wouldn't turn round so his face had to do! At last - somebody knows what I'm on about. I really thought that Morrissey was global (even though extremely private). Regards, Nick.
  22. Hope you're ok Kevin. I'm not near the Mac at the moment, but as soon as I'm able, I'll have a look for you. Get well soon, Kindest Regards, Nick.
  23. Where are all the 'Brits' hiding today? Morrissey is a bit of a national treasure over here. If you get a minute, have a look on YouTube for 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' - 'How Soon Is Now?' or 'This Charming Man' and see what he's about. I'm really into the 60's scene (Donovan - Jefferson Airplane etc, but Mozza is also pretty cool). Thanks for the comments everyone, and I'll post more soon. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  24. Hi Ron. I have a wide range of stains and finishes, but I do really tend to favour the natural look (particularly if the wood is great quality). The Morrissey portrait isn't treated yet, but I will just use a liquid colour enhancer, then a couple of coats of high quality beeswax. Hope this helps. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  25. It's Morrissey, Marg. The Smiths were legendary. Google them in 80's UK music. Thanks for your comments.
