  1. Hey everyone. It's good to see you're all well and still scrollin'. I've been keeping one eye on the village whilst keeping a bit of a low profile - the work load has increased, and I am also building up my show stock (as well as a completely new concept of segmentation that I'm working on...still in the early stages.) Anyway, with it being the Chinese New Year, I thought I'd share 2 new commission pieces with you. I'm not sure if any of you remember me mentioning a piece I cut for a local Chinese Takeaway, that was experiencing a number of undesirable customers? Well they wanted 2 more. The brief was simple...a horse in portrait (for the New Year) and a lotus flower in landscape. The rest was up to me (which is exactly how I love it!). Hope you all enjoy, and I'll keep dropping by in between work (when you guys have the coffee on!) Kindest Regards, Nick. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/album/274-miscellaneous/
  2. Keep a tight hold on to the fact thet nobody was in there at this disastrous time. However distressing and upsetting...things are just things - and life is safe. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  3. It's good to hear that all's well. A scare really does make you worry though. Keep us all updated - keep heathy, Nick.
  4. Nice work Danny. I love intricate floral work.
  5. Hey Andrew...as the others have already said, welcome to the village. Kindest Regards, Nick (East Coast -UK)
  6. Hey Darcy...you know we'll all still be here when you're ready to come back. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  7. Nice work. Layered fore & backgrounds always look impressive when done correctly. Detail really is worth the wait. You should be proud of this piece.
  8. Ohhh...man! Roly...that explains so much. Why didn't you say so before? LOL
  9. Wow Sully...sounds bad! (What happened to the trolley full of groceries?) LOL. No seriously - good that you're ok.
  10. Hey Marg...you know the saying -The Pencil is Mightier Than The Sword (I'm thinking maybe that should be "Saw" instead!)
  11. I once slipped with a Stanley knife and sliced a 6" gash up my inner thigh (just stopping before my groin!) But get this....1 month ago, I was searching in my key cabinet for the workshop keys. I thought the kids may have moved them, but no...they had dropped to the floor. Picking them up, I headed out to the back door - just as my mother-in-law came in through the front! I disappeared in the dust...NOW THAT WAS A CLOSE CALL! (Remember guys - Health & Safety...always keep one eye on the window.)
  12. The fact that this post was started by Doug in the first place is really the true statement. It is a close community that can be judged by the comments posted by everyone here. SSV is what it is, due to Travis & Clayton....it will continue to be this way - thanks to the attitude of the residents and contributors. Pay if you can, and post comments if you can't. Keep up the good work, everyone. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  13. Keep up the good works Clayton...I'm sure it's appreciated by everyone. Thanks & Kindest Regards, Nick.
  14. This is simply great, Frank. I really love all intricate work, and the odd mistake is sometimes part of completing such an amazing piece. Just imagine who else could possibly do this (mistake free?). It's not noticeable, so it's not a problem. You have done Sully's pattern justice. Regards, Nick.
  15. These are great Todd...I love intricate work.
  16. Wouldn't know if Santa is at our local Garden Centre, Roly - I haven't been since last December. I walked through the entrance and said "Good Morning...do you have any holly?" to whom I thought was a member of staff. It was actually a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Alan Titchmarsh and a party of senior citizens found my mistake hilarious! (That said...I haven't been back since.) This years holly will be purchased online! Regards, Nick.
  17. Very nice work Gator. I love working with floral.
  18. Thanks everyone. Your comments are always welcome (and always inspiring, coming from professionals like yourselves.)
  19. Great cutting Katie. Keep up the good work.
  20. Excellent work! Thanks for showing.
  21. Hey all. Just thought I'd post a few photo's of the most recent pieces. The Dickensian festival went well, with lots of interest in the commissioned portraits. I've also started using my Sue Mey Wedding Heart pattern. To get it good takes a lot of time, but it is worth every minute when finished. The example names are from an unknown source from quite a while ago - I used them because they fill the banner nicely (If anyone knows who the designer is I'll be happy to name drop). It's cut with 4mm BB Ply and backed with 12mm. Hope you like them. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  22. Oh no...don't get on her wrong side Sully - there's always the chance that the photos may go viral on Facebook! LOL (I can kinda understand that you'd be caught up in the moment though...I'm sure I would - knowing how much work the fine machine may have already done (and you taking it on further).
  23. Ohhh...how true. Probably the the ultimate answer! (Take note Travis) LOL
  24. Don't let 'Your Better Half' catch you, Sully...you'll be in the dog house for throwing your attention elsewhere! LOL
  25. ...whilst plucking the blade (to achieve that magical tensioned sound) - you suddenly feel an overwhelming sense of calm and serenity...(or maybe that's just obscure old me!) LOL.
