  1. Love it Frank...pyrography is cool. I don't practice anywhere near enough. I have a Peter Child, and it's excellent. You've inspired me to use it more when I have time...Right now - I'm guessing sometime around 2035! LOL
  2. "Liked" by me Dan...great work.
  3. Thanks Marg.....I may be gone for a while.
  4. Hi Dick. What I tend to do with the commissions is cut 2 individual portraits (some of the thicker ones can't be stacked anyway). It seems a long way of doing things, but some of the intricate work is best not to attempt when stacking - particularly with my previous saw. Thanks for your interest. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  5. I hope you had a really great day Kevin..."Happy Birthday".
  6. Thanks Ron. The difference is just amazing. I can't move away! I do however, feel grateful to have worked hard on an 'entry level' saw and moved up...rather than having to drop down. I have always been very humble, but I feel that I've kinda earned this. I can't wait to see what it produces - it seems to cut all on it's own. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  7. I had a Scheppach Deco-Flex, Roly. It really was overworked to be honest. The tension rod gave out in the end (the threads were rounded). The amount of times I wound that wheel (every time I had to release / tighten the tension) would probably equate to how often a trucker changed gears in a year! I put some decent stuff out over the last 18 months - so for my 1st saw (entry level as well) it served it's purpose and it taught me a lot...so R.I.P (Rust In Peace) LOL
  8. Get whatever Excalibur your money can buy...trust me, I received my EX-30 today, and I'm completely blown away! Regards, Nick.
  9. Hey Jim...have a nice Birthday. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  10. Hi everyone. My names Nick, and I'm a scrollerholic. (Round of applause from group) Today I started using the hard stuff - I'm ashamed to say I've been introduced to EX-30 by a dealer and now I'm completely hooked. I've been told that from now on my life and relationships will suffer greatly..."OH WELL - I'M SURE I'LL MANAGE! LOL.
  11. Time to feel smug Keith - great work, with plenty of clean-cut detail. Regards, Nick.
  12. Really great work Clayton...way beyond me. Regards, Nick.
  13. Thanks everyone. For those who asked - the 2 pieces were the Floral Cluster (canal artwork) and the Victorian Bird Cage. (I think I need to make some more when the saw arrives). Many thanks for your comments and interest. Nick.
  14. Thanks Marg. Yes, I know she won't mind me saying...I have a very talented wife (all handmade) - the wreaths of course...NOT my wife LOL More can be seen here if they interest you. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/tinkers-cove/Rag-Wreaths-/_i.html?_fsub=4173231016&_sid=169836976&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 Kindest Regards, Nick.
  15. Hi all. Just thought I'd let you know how the Craft Fair went, yesterday - (Thanks for asking Roy) All was good, and things got quite busy for the 1st of the season. I sold quite a few pieces and got quite a crowd for the commissioned stuff (& plenty of cards requested) - Although I am really short of space and need to give that some thought. Another quietly spoken stall-holder approached at the end of the day, and said he had something to tell me. He was 3rd generation Romany Gypsy from the New Forrest, and that he very rarely had much to say to anyone (being somewhat 'a recluse'). He pointed out 2 particular items that I had, and how much he was drawn to them. He said "I feel that I knew someone would produce these images one day and you must continue to choose your items by instinct". With that, he turned away, and I didn't see him again. It sure did make me think (as I spent 8 - yes 8! hours on Saturday, going through every PDF / pattern / book / magazine that I own - picking out all my new projects). VERY strange, but also quite thought provoking. I'm sure there'll be more to update on, as and when. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  16. They're great Fay. (Can I have mine poached please?)
  17. Thanks Roy. I'll post a pic if I get chance to take one.
  18. Strong, black 'n' sweet coffee for me please Ron. Not my usual, but just gearing up for tomorrow's craft fair. (1st of the season.) Hope everyone's good. Regards, Nick.
  19. Hmmm...you been talkin' too much Roly? LOL
  20. Hi Barry. I have a Bamboo and wouldn't use anything else for design work. Most of my problems in the past have been the pressure issues. Different software reacts differently to how you tap or hold your pen. I would suggest firstly, check the website for new updates for your pad - and then play around with your settings. This usually works thing out for me. Overall I still love the feel of a pen or pencil in my hand as opposed to replicating sketching via a mouse or keypad - (there really is no comparison.) If I can help further, just give me a shout. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  21. As mentioned in the other post Graham - welcome to the village. Spend some time here...you'll learn lots. Kindest Regards, Nick (Bridlington - East Coast UK)
  22. Bob...maybe you should climb the tower - I bet you'll be able to see Graham from up there LOL
  23. Hi Dick. It's all a learning curve, and it never seems to stop - there's always something extra to pick up from others as you see it. Most is just trial and error, but if I'm judging you're latest...I'd say you're on the right tracks. Seems pretty good to me. I'm sure the other makers would say the same - I tend to go for lots of detail, and eliminate what I can't manage. (Once it's removed from the pattern, it's gone). If I want to remove any detail on a pattern once printed - I simply use a black fine liner pen, and a silver 'Sharpie' pen to make the blank areas. Hope this helps you, and if you want anymore info...give me a shout. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  24. I'm not sure about that one Roy - Kevin's landlady sounds a little like the dude from 'Tom & Jerry'! I get the impression that she chases him around the kitchen with a broom when he hasn't finished all the jobs. LOL (I hope this isn't the case, Kevin).
  25. Hey Bazzer. Welcome to the village. I know Lancs quite well (especially along the canal network). I'd advise a quick 'copy & paste' of your last intro post, and place it as a new one in the 'Introductions' area of the forum. That way more people will catch you and say hello. If you have any questions, just ask and watch everyone jump in to help. Kindest Regards, Nick.
