  1. You and me both Pete...I'm only 38, but grew up with "Gift From a Flower to a Garden" - fond memories, and truly inspirational.
  2. Hey all. So I was just working on the new plaques patterns, and thought I'd tweet a photo of the old Donovan Piece I made a 2 years ago...then the phone starts going crazy! Don likes my work, and I'm suddenly getting tons of tweets and messages. I have offered to cut a newer piece for him, (to keep or charity auction). I think I may have just hit the top of my game - for me it doesn't get any better and where do I go from here? (I know some people tweet on behalf of others, but he's known for reading & sending himself - and it was sent from a UK location that he's playing at this weekend). Hope everyone's keeping the saws moving... ...back soon, Kindest Regards, Nick.
  3. It might be simple Frank...but you know as well as I do that detail is everything - and you nailed it again. Great work, Kindest Regards, Nick.
  4. Thanks Larry. I've got lots more to add but I tend to forget to take photos halfway through some projects LOL
  5. LOL! I know how that feels (I don't have anything to do with money).
  6. Hey everyone...hope you're all keeping well. As mentioned before, I will be posting the new stuff as soon as I'm able, but as things stand now - well let's just say if it was Autumn and the daylight saving went back an hour, I would probably end up in some kind of vacuum! I'm trying to photograph as much as I remember but sometimes I get carried away cutting and forget. After checking-in today, I realised that my subscription had ended (wow, what a quick year!)...so, just another $10 (£6 ish) and well worth every penny - our Travis and Clayton have a lot to deal with! So...if anyone hasn't yet - try to support if you can, and no problem if you can't. Enjoy the village, and help if and when you can (I'm sure it doesn't all happen by magic). Thanks for reading and I'll re-post soon. If anyone's interested, I have just added the first post to my blog, and have lots more material to add soon - you're all welcome to drop by if you wish. http://www.tinkers-cove.blogspot.co.uk/ Kindest Regards, Nick.
  7. Hi everyone. Just wanted to say I'm still around (although absolutely worked into the ground!) Since getting the EX30, I haven't stopped cutting. I have been checking in daily, and will be posting regularly again soon. Stay safe, and 'Keep Your Wood, Good'. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  8. Just thought....."MISSING A FINGER INCIDENT - ANONYMOUS".....Oh hang on a minute - the acronym is "M.A.F.I.A" I can't help feeling that there's some sort of irony in there somewhere. (I can't see too many of you joining this group now). LOL!
  9. Hi James - there really is something special that I'm sure we all remember about starting with scrollin'. It's pretty cool for you really...you've just walked into the most experienced, and talent- filled village you could ever imagine. The residents here are always willing to lend a hand, and I can assure you that you will learn as much as you can ask or take-in. Kindest Regards, (and hope to see some of your work as you progress) Nick (East Coast -UK)
  10. Hey Doc...hope you weren't legless, before you nearly became fingerless! LOL

    Software

Posteriza is safe (depending where you get it) - just be careful. From it's own site will be fine. I use it quite often on the large pieces I work on. For the smaller stuff I use Rapid ReSizer. To be honest - most things are fine with Rapid ReSizer, unless you're looking at creating something larger than 15 inches. Hope this helps, Kindest Regards, Nick.
  12. Hahahah...been there too Roly (maybe it's time to start a support group LOL!)
  13. Nice work Kevin. I didn't think intarsia was your gig. You seem to have made a great job of this one. Keep it up. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  14. Sometimes, simplicity works best - this is a perfect example Roly...nice work, as usual. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  15. With my last saw, I had the back raised between 1-2" which was fine. Now I have an EX-30, I keep it flat and raise myself instead. I find it much easier to work, if I'm pretty much looking down the blade - the accuracy is perfect. Hope this helps, Kindest Regards, Nick.
  16. Ohhh man...I'm right there with you on that one - I've always got at least 7 or 8 going at once. It seems that as soon as I start one, I remember another that I'd love to cut...so I start another LOL
  17. I'd second Roly on that - Excalibur are a pleasure to cut with. There are a couple of others at the top end of the market that are equally good, but I chose EX-30 after researching for quite some time. (Axminster Tools are the best dealer here in the UK)Kindest Regards, Nick
  18. I'm sure she'll love it. Cool work Frank...as usual. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  19. Eye agree!...(LOL) But seriously, great cutting - I've lost a few pieces myself over the last few years...sometimes having to re-print, and re-cut when not found. I suppose that's part of cutting really cool detail - when it works, it's well worth it. I hope your daughter really appreciates the portrait (I'm sure she will). Nice work. Kindest Regards, Nick.
  20. Get started Thomas...there's no better time than now! Welcome to our village. Kindest Regards, Nick (East Coast - UK)
  21. Hi Richard...Give this a go, and let me know how you get on. Kindest Regards, Nick. https://www.facebook.com/business/overview/
  22. Nice clean cuts Frank...as always. Regards, Nick.
  23. You need a personal page first, then you can create a group or page. Google it and all should be clear. Hope this helps. Regards, Nick.
  24. Love it Frank...pyrography is cool. I don't practice anywhere near enough. I have a Peter Child, and it's excellent. You've inspired me to use it more when I have time...Right now - I'm guessing sometime around 2035! LOL
  25. "Liked" by me Dan...great work.
