I recently purchased this saw in the U S, same model number called King Industrial Professional scroll saw instead of the Excelsior. For $899.99 at Woodcraft store in the Phoenix area. I have owned a EX 21 Excalibur for over 10 years, and this is the exact same saw except the 30 inch model. So all of you scrollers out there that were looking to get a Excalibur saw before they became unavailable you can now do so for a much better price than General International was offering them for. I believe that the EX 30 was selling for about $1250.00 before they sold the rights to manufacture them to King Canada. But there is some marketing agreement in place to not offer the XL 21/100 here the  in the States it is only available in Canada. I would be happy to answer any questions one might have about the saw. It is not a clone of the ex 30, it is the EX 30, with a new name.

I can also say that this saw is an absolute gem to use. Life got crazy busy since I got the saw in early November and I have not really been able to use it too much but I have done enough to know that I love it!

Hoping to start my blog review on it this weekend.

I am ready to upgrade from my starter saw and I am trying to decide if I should buy this?  I have done a ton of research, I don't have the money for something in the $800 range, I was wondering if this 16-inch is too good to be true, but I am unable to find any reviews and don't live near a woodcraft, I don't want to be stuck with something that isn't worth the money.  I am cashing in all of my tool buying points with the wife to get a saw in the middle price range so I need something that will really last and function well. I tried the dewalt  but had a ton of trouble with vertical blade movement, which apparently is a problem with the type 2.  Any information you can provide on your experience with this will be greatly appreciated!! The first review is already the  most info I have found.

Sawfish you where do you live?  King has the 21inch in Canada.  With the exchange rate it would be a good deal if you are near the border.

I have EX-21 (Excalibur) for over 7 years now,  It is the best decision I ever made as I am a fairly heavy user at times and have only replaced blade holder once.  I have had friends who have gone through 2 Deltas in that time.

Parts should be available from King or from Seyco.

16 inch??  It depends completely on the type of ornaments you do.  For my stuff, it would handle most of what I do.  Lots of ornaments and keychains, baskets so you would have to think about that.

Unfortunately I am all the way down here in Florida. So far I have been making a lot of things out of 3/4 inch wood such as animals, crosses, sled centerpieces and variety of other random things like that, not to much intricate work.  I am trying to find something that cuts smooth with little vibration that I can depend on long term.  It looks like this new king could be a nice option, however, I wish I had more user feedback on it like a lot of the older saws do. I can order it from woodworks but they do not accept returns on power tools from what I read, so I don't want to spend $650 with shipping and then be stuck with a poor product.  Thank you for the reply, I still have so much to learn!

Its a great piece of equipment, so far I have had it for a couple months and have cut a variety of things with it so far. I plan on doing a few blog entries this weekend. I do know from my dealings with King Canada that they are planning to get the 21 into the states.

Waiting to hear more about these saws. I was dying for the 30” Excalibur, but never did have the funds. Now with this lower price tag, I’d really like to try one, but not without hearing some good reviews first. I’ve been working on a Type 1 Dewalt for several years now. I have 2 of them.

Its well worth the price, great saw, the only flaw that I have noticed thus far is the wearing of the coating on the table top. This from what I understand is the same for excalibur. I love the saw so far however I have been unable to use it very much of late, life has been busy and I have far too many pieces of wall art stockpiled...

For my long long projects that are thin and need that small spiral blade and I want mover a little quicker this is the saw i use.  I do however prefer the constant tension parallel arm systems for those long long days of cutting like my ps wood 21 inch.  Lifting and lowering that arm is felt on the lower back and I run my saw perfectly flat and level with no forward tilt.  I put the pegas chucks on mine and adjusted the motor for a less agressive stroke and its been great. I want the black pegas table on it though.  Mine is worn out and Id like that all black look on it.  Ive found the MGT blades and the ps wood blades work best in this saw for faster tighter turning scroll work that isnt extremely delicate.  My weapon of choice for spirals is the niqua new spiral.  As far as spirals go thats all i use because of the surface finish inside the cuts.  I like the little details.
