Well I was working in my shop yesterday.when my saw died.It finally gave up the Ghost.I have been having to to minor repair work on her for the last several mths..Yesterday was it.She just died.Looked at several Saws at Lowe's.Sears.Going out today to do some shopping.I can't afford the one I would like to have.The Excalibar 0r Hedgner saws I know I,m spelling them wrong.but it's 4.48 am No Breakfast yet.well wish me luck on finding a new saw. :):oops:

I found a 15" Jet scroll saw that was made in 1988 on Craig's list for $15.  I use this saw more than my others. I also bought a 25" Hegner that was made in 1986 that I use for larger projects. Paid $600 for that one.  Creig's List is a good place to look.

I think that you will like the 788!

The newer ones have a tilted stand that I do NOT like! Mine still has the flat stand!

 

I have abused my 788 a lot!

 

Two complaints about it!

 

Original light was junk and very poorly located--got in the way!

 

The tools free clamps --were hard to use with arthritis! Bigger knobs -- I made a over knob-- then some how over tightened them. I then modified them to actually use tools to tighten-- a few years back now! It was to be a temporary fix while my new parts came! Still using it that way--seem to be used to it and like it.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys. I will ck, into those places. I did work her hard.I had her for....Oh my gosh, I forget! Years.Yea Roly I did giver her a name,It sounds silly Her name was Shilo.I'm a Civil War buff.I don't live to far from The Battle Field of Shilo.Go figure.Again Thanks for all the help.I hope to find 1 soon. :oops:
