dgman Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 These pic are from a show I did about two weeks ago at a local church. This was the thirty year anniversary, so is well attended. It was a two day show. I did about $1800. I like to display my ornaments on trees. The Chritmas trees attract the customers, then they see the ornaments. I have several returning customers that bring their list with them to pick out new ornaments each year. I am not a designer so I use patterns from many designers including Steve Good, Sheila Landry, Sue Mey and many others. Sorry for the picture quality as I took them on my iPad. bobscroll, Travis, Savannah Scroller and 1 other 4 Quote

ike Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 Nice displaying your work. $1000 in two days is a good show. I feel lucky getting $200 in one day . $500 per day is exceptional for any craft sale around here even though it is picking up in the last couple of years. n Thanks for showing. Quote
Savannah Scroller Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 Great Work!! I am working on a bunch of stuff for Christmas right now & hope they turn out half as good as the stuff you did! Keep on Scrolling! Quote
dgman Posted November 19, 2014 Author Report Posted November 19, 2014 Thanks for great comments! To answer some questions, my biggest sellers by volume are the Christmas ornaments and the mini bird houses. Yes the Unicorn is a stand up puzzle. The mini bird houses are not turned, they are compound cut on the scroll saw as are the birds. As for prices, keep in mind I live in So. California, about 60 miles north west of downtown Los Angeles . The mini bird houses are $10 each or two for $18. I have two basic sizes of ornaments hung on separate Christmas trees. The small ones are $3 each or two for $5. The large ones are $6 each or two for $10. I find folks like a bargin, that's why I charge that way. Stand up puzzles are $24 to $34.. I have some small clocks for $10 to $15 and others from $24 to $32. Wall plaques are $26 to $38. Table plaques are $24 to $35. The dream catchers with wooden feathers and the wolf plaque with wooden feathers are $45. Portraits range from $35 to $65. As you can imagine, I can't make much money at it. I base my prices on what I think the item will sell for, not how much time I have in it. When I plan a piece, I plan on cutting three or four. It doesn't always work out that way but I try. I always stack cut portraits four layers of 1/8" BB, As well as the ornaments although I use hardwoods for those. If I missed any questions just ask. Travis, Rob Roy and wombatie 3 Quote

ike Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 GREAT SALES I DON'T THINK THAT THERE IS A SALE AROUND THIS AREA THAT CAN DO THAT IN A 2 YEAR PERIOD. Quote
