Scrappile Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Enlarged prostate is common. I have had the problem for the last 15 or more years. In the beginning I took meds that helped. But when I had back surgery 7 or so years ago, I could not urinate after surgery. They had to put a catheter in until I could go back to surgery and have the Turp procedure done. It is a lazer surgery were they cut out some of the prostrate where the tube from your bladder goes through or something like that. Do not watch it on youtube! It is not as bad as it looks. I have had to have it done a second time because the first time the Dr. that did it rushed it and it did not do a thorough procedure. First time I was in surgery around 45 minutes. The second time was an emergency also, I all of a sudden could not urinate again. Now that is something that is very painful and can be very life threatening. The second time the other Dr had me in surgery almost 4 hours. He really did the job. I can go like a 15 year old now. Has been that way for 4 years so far. Do not be greatly concerned about an enlarged prostrate. Just get normal checks and if it get difficult to urinate, no pressure, stop and go stop and go then something more may be required. I'd like to be able to tell you the an enlarged prostate means you have a large member, but not really true. Sorry. Rob Roy and ChelCass 2 Quote
tvman44 Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Been dealing with the enlarged prostate for the last 17 years. Frequent urination is not too bad. Been on a med which has lowered the PSA a lot. Quote
terrylee Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Oh,I been down that road last Nov and never again.I had surgery where they go up and rim you out. Is like"Roto-Rooter" ,after that: two in the days hosptial and running to the bathroom for a mouth doing okay now Very painful Quote

bandaideman Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 So far so good for me,but I do get up 3-4 times a night and have always gotten up at night. Even wet my bed as a Kid. Cheap American bladder i guess. I have had urologist tell me that if you live long enought we all will have prostate problems. I know of a urologist told of a wife who brought her husband in be cause he was getting up one or two times a night and disturbing her sleep at age 75. He explained that is not that unsual at his age and aske doesn't she get up in the night sometimes she said NO I go on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Talk about big bladders. I did not believe him but he insisted it was true. He was giving a lecture and I think it was Pee Pee humor. Quote
