ChelCass Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 My bother has been a ham operator since he was 16 he is now 74. I used to sit with him while he talked to people in Russia and so many different countries. It was fastinating. His call is K8MTN Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Nice that you were able to get your dad's old call sign ! Quote

Jim McDonald Posted October 15, 2016 Report Posted October 15, 2016 Dan-- Knew you could do it. General requires a little more study than Tech (Extra takes some kind of wizardry I haven't found, yet). Glad the vanity call system worked for you. Congrats from KB9LEI Larry, you can get a license with no problem. Tech is largely common sense with a little mixture of theory involved. Send me a PM if you're interested--I will find you a class or instructor. Quote
Dan Posted October 15, 2016 Author Report Posted October 15, 2016 Love it........ wish I had one. Larry, you can also download apps with the entire question pool. That helps to build confidence. I think I'll sit through a class before I go for general. Quote
jerry1939 Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Good for you Friend. With your high IQ, it's probably only a matter of time before you will be visiting with aliens from other planets. PLEASE ask them when they plan to journey to earth. All of us on the site will be waiting to hear what they have to say. jerry Quote

As for the IQ, well, not so high. Like Jim said, it's mostly common sense. Quote

Jim McDonald Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 Roly-- Might be a swear word for UK hams, but on this side of the pond, we try to get CBers to experience real radio. Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
