alexfox Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 I'm relieved to say that my Seyco drill has finally arrived. It works well and makes neater holes than the holes that I had been drilling by hand using pin vise. The first 620 holes on this project were drilled by hand, the last 10 were drill using the Seyco drill. always dreamed of such a tool, where I can buy it and how much it costs? Quote
Frank Pellow Posted January 10, 2017 Author Report Posted January 10, 2017 Alex, the drill is available at: http://seyco.com/scrollers-drill/ It costs $109 including shipping in the USA. Quote
Frank Pellow Posted January 14, 2017 Author Report Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have done no more work on this project since I last posted a photo here on December the 18th. I do expect to continue with it some time in the future and will post to this thread when I do. Edited January 14, 2017 by Frank Pellow Quote
meflick Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Sorry you have had things interfere with your work Frank. Hope its nothing too serious for you. I understand that life gets in the way sometimes. I look forward to seeing more of your work when you get back to it. Quote
Gonzoloco Posted January 24, 2017 Report Posted January 24, 2017 This is so amazing the time and detail you are putting into this. Awesome Quote
Frank Pellow Posted April 10, 2017 Author Report Posted April 10, 2017 Week 6: After a delay of several months, I got back to this project this week. I spent 5 hours working on it and that puts the total time at 29.5 hours. The hole count is up to 810. I'm probably going to build a frame for the work next week. It will be made out of 1/4 sawn white oak. Right now I am trying to choose whether to stain the frame black (as shown to the left in the photo) or to simply highlight the grain with dark stain (as shown to the bottom in the photo). I'm also try to decide how wide to make the frame. I solicit your opinions on the frame. garyo1954 1 Quote
don in brooklin on Posted April 10, 2017 Report Posted April 10, 2017 Amazing My personal preference is the black but I would ask the boss. My philosophy for a happy marriage is to never pick the colour. Don GrampaJim 1 Quote
Frank Pellow Posted April 17, 2017 Author Report Posted April 17, 2017 Attached is a photo of the completed and framed work. The final hole count is 909. It took me 34 1/4 hours to cut the pattern. The frame is stained white oak and is of the Rossiter-Pellow design that I used most of my projects. barb.j.enders and garyo1954 2 Quote

Frank Pellow Posted April 17, 2017 Author Report Posted April 17, 2017 Thank you Alex. I regard you as one of the very best pattern designers, so praise from you is particularly appreciated. Quote
meflick Posted April 17, 2017 Report Posted April 17, 2017 Stunning piece of artwork you have crafted Frank. 909 holes drilled alone would have worn me out much less all the meticulous cutting you did over those 34.25 hours of work! I admire your tenacity and your skill. thanks for sharing. Quote

It will be a beautiful piece also a very fun piece to see. Excellent job on it. Dick heppnerguy Quote
