Denny, just a thought the FD blades are very aggressive at least for me.  If I am greatly worried about tear out I will use an Olson blade, one of the reverse blades.  For 1/4 inch I would use a 2R.  I like them for delicate work, they don't cut as fast as a FD but for me they are better and give me less issues.  Hope it helps.  I do use the FD on thick wood and like them a lot for that.

Boy that shell looks extremely fragile, you did an excellent job cutting it.  They are all fantastic, well done.
