My wife wanted another domed box so I put on my bib jeans and started to "Clampett". I'm glad I saved the cutouts to help form the top. I had to go back to the internet to figure out how to do ellipse again to make the sides. Making the box joint box was the easy part, heat soaking, bending, gluing and clamping everything together is the hard part. If I keep making these boxes, I'll have to build a steam box. Even 1/8" BBPW has it's challenges. I let it dry over night and to my surprise, after unclamping it, It all stayed together! I think the Titebond 3 made a difference. My wife added her wonderful painting and I added several coats of clear gloss lacquer. The felt on the bottom is a drop in on an 1/8" BBPW. On to more projects.

Beautiful Work. Rockler sells a pretty decent steamer with attachments for a steam box. You have to build the box, which is probably best anyways. That way you can build whatever size you want/need. They recommend an hour for every quarter inch of thickness. In my experience, leaving it in longer than that helps. I haven't had much luck bending anything over 1/4" thick, but I was trying to curve a very hard wood.

Thanks Tim, Many years ago I had a wallpaper remover steamer. We bought a house previous to this one and the wall paper was "B" ugly and spent may hours removing it. Never thought I would need it again and gave it to some one that needed it. It looked exactly like the ones that Woodcraft and Rockler sell for similar price. When I get it, I will probably build a smaller flatter box since I will be building more domed boxes. The 1/8" BBPW is strong once its domed. I always build and inner frame box to support all the clamps along with a snug removable inside block. I may need to get some more band clamps. They seem to work the best. If I ever go with thicker wood, I may look into "wacky wood" It's groove, scored on one side and is very flexible.
