Things that make you jump

I was just reading a post by Brenda (Foxfold) about jumping when she breaks a blade, I must admit I jump too.
But I really jumped when my 1/4 sheet sander exploded.
I'm still finding bits of the fly wheel around the shed.

A few much worse than that. It took a few seconds for me to realise what had happened. Then I dropped a lot of those

Looks almost like someone planted a bomb in your sander.  You got any enemies?

Had a vacuum cleaner grenade once and wow did that make a mess since a piece of the fan went through the bag on the way out.

My response would be: 

 

1.  Use my driving words.

2.  Change skivvies.  Possibly shorts as well.

3.  Go to Lowes/HomeDepot to replace.

4.  Spend time peering inside the housing of the old-n-busted to see if it could be fixed or repurposed in some other nifty post-apocalyptic way until my wife got tired of it laying around and told me to throw it out.

I had a jaw come loose from a chuck on my wood lathe at 3800 rpm. Fortunately the jaw flew to the back of the lathe and through the wall and not toward me.

Left me shaking!

My ryobe sander did the same thing. Loose screws caused it because someone gave me the broken sander and i needed to make a new block to hold sandpaper on and i could not get it to balance when running.
