wombatie Posted January 14, 2019 Report Posted January 14, 2019 I planned on doing some work on the saw for the first time this year but its too hot in the garage, it's 35C - 95F out side but it's 40C+ - 104F in the garage. I had a couple of fans going but all it was doing was blowing hot air around. Seriously considering a portable air conditioner. Marg meflick, amazingkevin, Scrolling Steve and 3 others 4 2 Quote

wombatie Posted January 15, 2019 Author Report Posted January 15, 2019 Lots of fires around and no rain in site, in fact we have had no rain for at least a month which means the ground is tinder dry. There is good hear and there is bad and at the moment it's hovering around the bad. 19 hours ago, merlin said: Sorry about the heat Marg, just heard it's going up tomorrow. the weather map of Australia went from 41 celsius inner to the coast all the same temps, we have a sister over there, so hope she's ok. kmmcrafts Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 I'm sorry to hear about the heat.. most of these guys saying they are envying your temps wouldn't make it half way there before they'd be ready to turn around as it's too hot, LOL... You can keep that heat.. I'll stick to my cold shop with no heat before i'd take that kind of heat.. I don't care for any temps above 85F... ok 90 isn't bad as long as the humidity is low... I don't like that humidity at all either.. at any temp.. LOL but certainly not in the higher temps. and also the real cold temps.. We are heading into a cold front starting Saturday.. high temps Saturday I think was 15F and 10 or something like that on Sunday.. -7 for Sunday night into Monday.. Then warm up gradually up to a more normal temp of 25F.. which is cold from what we been having mid 30 - 40's is what we been having.. so been warmer than normal.. Quote
wombatie Posted January 18, 2019 Author Report Posted January 18, 2019 Well we have high humidity and rain today but by next Friday we are looking at 40C - 104F out side so in the garage it will be at least 10 degrees higher. But at least I got some saw time in today and it was nice listening to the rain even if we did only get 1 ml. Marg kmmcrafts 1 Quote

Tomanydogs Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 Hi Marg, I’m hoping you get some rain and the temperatures return to normal for you. According to the BBC Australia has lost approx 1/3 of their spectacled flying foxes (a type of bat) that’s about 30,000. I’ve read that there are up ward of one million fish that have died along river banks. Fruit orchards are getting spoiled under the hot sun. The baby green sea turtles sex is determined by the temperature and on the northern Great Barrier Reef 99% are female. And I read a section of highway between Melbourne and Sydney started to melt. Then throw in the fires.... You take care and be safe Marg. And to all the rest of our Australian friends take care and be safe. Quote
barb.j.enders Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 It's amazing how we all complain about the weather! While I don't mind the heat, that is too hot. On the other end of the scale, the temperature here today was -29 with the windchill it felt like -32 celcius. Ivan Nikolaev 1 Quote

Marg If you are hot, just look at this photo. Today in Russia is the holiday of the Epiphany and people go swimming on this day. Overboard - 6C. Usually these days the temperature is -25C, but this does not stop anyone. Edited January 19, 2019 by Ivan Nikolaev wombatie, bobscroll and Phantom Scroller 3 Quote

Scrappile Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 I don't mind weather. It makes things interesting and I live in a nice place, weather-wise. We have four seasons, none that get too extreme for any length of time. In the summer we have a week or two of 100 or a little over, but everyone has air conditioning, in the winter we may hover around 0 or a little below for a week or two, but we all have heat. We have had two or three reported tornadoes hit the grown, without doing any damage, in the 75 years I have lived here. Years ago we use to get 70+ mph winds that did some damage, blew out door theater screen, but we rarely get winds higher than 40 mph any more and there are no out door movies left. About every 8 years we get a good winter with some real snow, like 8" or so, but the rest of the winters we may get a couple inches that stays around about a week. I will stay with my weather. I would not live where you had to worry about tornadoes or hurricanes. Not for me! And I have never had the desire to live were the weather was always warm or always cold. Darn, I just wrote myself into being a happy man! Guess I will go get this wonderful day started!! Ivan Nikolaev, wombatie and bobscroll 3 Quote
