There are two things I purchased for my wood shop this past year that I think are great additions.  I is a Xpower blower.  I have had it for several months and I use it very often.  Not as noisy as using a air compressor, don't have to wait for a tank to fill up, and it doesn't run out of air.  I find I use it for blowing out filters, blowing sawdust off work pieces, even when cleaning the inside of my truck, I can blow the dust off of the vent grills and other places on the dash which are always hard to dust.  Great for cleaning computer keyboards, vans and such.

The second is a RZ Mask to help to not breath all that fine dust my collection system does not get.  I have tried many mask and this the most comfortable and effective one I have found.  I have a beard, have had since 1966, and this mask does a far better job even with the beard than any other I have tried.  I like it so mush I purchased a second one, just because they had a 25% off sale...  You can see the mask in my avatar.

Odd you posted this. I have a beard from various skin problem from the hair. Stumpy Nubs posted a youtube on dust masks and said people with beards have problems and find full face masks work. Planning on creating my first shop at the age of 62, got one lung and COPD. Defiantly looking at masks. RJF

I have that same mask system (mine's grey)!  I usually use it when sanding or using something that kicks up a lot of dust, but don't tend to put it on for scrolling.  I find myself using it almost as much for mowing (yeah, the neighbors all give me sketchy looks), because there's corners of the yard where the air doesn't really blow and even when bagging the grass, the dust and grass particles just float in the air and I end up with lungs full of it.  We have three Great Danes, so when I hit a land-mine in the back yard...yeah...not something I want suspended in my lungs.  LOL

I like the idea of the blower, but I need to look for one that uses the batteries my drill uses, being tethered by a cord seems to bother me lately.  If it does not need the torque that amperage can give you, I want it with a battery.  Something else to search for when I am bored, thanks for the idea

@JimErn depending on which system you have, you might find a tire inflator in that line of tools. I know Ryobi has one and I think you could either remove the inflator valve or rig some type of nozzle to go into the inflator valve.

BTW, I have a three prong cord where I hook up the saw and sander(s).  I just use the extra plug for the blower cord. Since the saw and the blower never run at the same time, there is no amperage problem.

I have an old tankless Craftsman air compressor that I use to blow the dust off my projects after I sand them. Have used that thing now for the longest time. I keep in the garage because any sanding I usually do outdoors on a nice day and then blow the project off there too. I try to do all my finishing outdoors and it usually works out because we have nice weather till about first of Dec and then I am usually done with everything because that is show time. I do have means to finish in the shop if I have a project that needs to get done during the winter but they usually are rare. I will cut projects and save for the spring to finish many times. Has worked out for me pretty well. That little compressor has been a workhorse for me.

Thanks Jim for the idea, turns out Ryobi has both a tire infiltrator and a high volume air pump (like those used to blow up air mattresses)  now I just have to talk to santa

Heck, if your talking air compressors, get a tank and fill it. Put a blower nozzle on it and maybe a little regulator, or you'll hit everything with125 psi. Tank full at low psi use would last a while. I think the tanks are in the 20 to 50 dollar area, if it AL or steel and tank size. Tank could sit where ever and a short or long hose. RJF

Be interesting to see if others add a new acquisition or two from 2019.

Great idea. Start a new thread with that.

They also have a portable fan that can use their 18v batteries or AC power with the included adapter cord. I have one. It works well.

Les,

All I did was bend a heavy coat hanger into an s shape with one end fitted to the top rail of the Dewalt stand and a hook on the other end for the blower. [It's too ugly to photograph]
