I'm always tinkering... I'd appreciate feedback and thoughts about a new banner I'm designing for 2020. I want to highlight the new expanded item I make... See mock-up of new banner I'm working on and a photo of my booth this past year with the current banner. (Modified updated banner showing me "cutting" LOL)

(Keeping mind a couple of things... keep the wording simple and most people don't bother to read it anyway as I constantly get asked what laser I use LOL)

I get the laser thing alot too but people have no idea what a scrollsaw is either or what it does. When I tell people things are hand cut they think I am there cutting with a fret saw by hand and no power is used. years ago when Ipads first came out I was going to make a photo frame with me scrolling at a saw but never got around to it. I do not see this much any more at shows. They use to make photo frames like this too just for that purpose and what it would do is scroll through random photos as you watch.

I showed this to my wife to get her opinion. Her only comment was that your name is too small. She wanted to know who is the person that actually does this work and she did not see it without searching.

My comment is that, in today's world with China produced art products such as found in Hobby Lobby, Walmart and other places, people are numb. Even with your wording, it does not say that YOU did these. I know you want to keep it simple.  The last line could read "INDIVIDUALLY CRAFTED BY ME USING A SCROLL SAW" People need to know that the person in the booth is the person that personally cut each product.

I like them fine - if it were me, instead of the scrollsaw with the dachund puzzle, I'd have a picture of myself making something at the scrollsaw.

But it looks good to me as is as well

I've thought about a snapshot of me cutting one, but then people will see the pattern on the wood... kind of takes the mystery out of it.  😉

I like the idea of a photo of you cutting. First cut out the outline so the customer can see the shape. Then remove the pattern and act like you are cutting for the photo.  Hopefully, you can put the pattern back on, but if not, you still have the photo for the banner.  This photo would serve to show that you are actually cutting and that these puzzles are not mass produced .

So you didn't like the  banner with the :  " NO     CNC   Lasers   Computers  "     on it? I thought it was a good idea.

What feedback did you get on it? I'm watching this closely as I don't yet have a banner of any kind and will need a couple if I'm going to do some shows.

I'm still pondering the wording... NO CNC LASERS, etc came across is a bit harsh by some so I tried to soften it a little.  We'll see what I end up with.

I use that line too but are they really hand cut??  They are cut with a motorized saw. You would be more correct if you used a hand held fret saw. So when we say no laser or cnc people think of a machine doing all the work. But someone has to program it. With what we do the machine or scrollsaw does the cutting, we just push. Maybe the photo idea with you behind the saw is the way to get your point across better. I am going to run into this same problem as I try to get together a banner idea for myself this year. Thus my question asked in the business forum. I would leave the hand cut line out and say cut on a scrollsaw I think.
