Popular Post Dave Monk Posted January 24, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted January 24, 2020 As I mentioned before I am in over my head. I know the rule states that I am supposed to cut all the pieces before shaping them. Oh well...........I was never very good at following rules. I started out that way until I got to a pair of feet with sandals that is made up of ten pieces the size of a tic tac. Considering my lack of experience I am please how it is coming along. I am only working on it on weekends so I don't get burned out. I have to have it done by the middle of June. Birchbark, Fran L, Matt B and 7 others 9 1 Quote
Fran L Posted January 24, 2020 Report Posted January 24, 2020 That is looking fantastic. Do artwork like this and you can break as many rules as you'd want. OCtoolguy and Dave Monk 1 1 Quote
Matt B Posted January 24, 2020 Report Posted January 24, 2020 Beautiful. There is no way that I was expecting this, when I clicked on your forum topic. I am really looking forward to seeing your progress. Dave Monk and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote

JimErn Posted January 24, 2020 Report Posted January 24, 2020 As usual Dave, amazing work. What woods are you using so far? Even if I used tweezers I would have problems with those pieces, how in the world are you handling them when sanding and positioning? OCtoolguy and Dave Monk 1 1 Quote

I have been wearing some tight fitting glove so my fingers don't get sanded to bad. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
spirithorse Posted January 24, 2020 Report Posted January 24, 2020 Absolutely stunning, Dave! You failed to show us a close up of the 'rule breaking' ten toes! LOL Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse OCtoolguy and Dave Monk 2 Quote

Dave Monk Posted February 9, 2020 Author Report Posted February 9, 2020 Making a bit of progress. I 'm really slow at this. I'm only working about 10 hours a week on it. OCtoolguy, barb.j.enders, Scrappile and 4 others 6 1 Quote
JimErn Posted February 9, 2020 Report Posted February 9, 2020 Amazing work Dave. Just to give me an idea of scale, the table cloth is made up of rectangular pieces (white) how big are they? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
spirithorse Posted February 10, 2020 Report Posted February 10, 2020 Awe inspiring work, Dave, I love cutting intarsia but, if I displayed most of my projects against the pattern as you have done, I would be terribly ashamed! You are certainly a master in many, many forms of wood working. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse Dave Monk and OCtoolguy 2 Quote

The whole picture is about 35" x 20". OCtoolguy and JimErn 2 Quote

Don't they have to match the pattern? OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Some of mine would not match the pattern as nearly as exact as your pictures! None of mine have been so bad that I would scrap the project but, some were not as perfect with the pattern as what you have shown! So, to actually answer the question, "Don't they have to match the pattern?", I guess the answer is NO! LOL God Bless! Spirithorse OCtoolguy and Dave Monk 1 1 Quote

Goat Posted February 18, 2020 Report Posted February 18, 2020 This is looking awesome When I started many years ago I too would finish each piece as I cut it. After a looooong break (like 15 years), I found this website about a year ago and have started cutting again. I'm slowly converting my workflow to the "normal" way. I'm still trying to imagine how you guys cut those pieces in such a large project. I still have a hard time with the small 50 piece projects. Dave Monk and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
