JimErn Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 For those of you who have this on a bench grinder, how are you doing dust collection? I've some ideas, seen some on the net, but I would love a pic of you did that actually works. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
tgiro Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Here is what I did for the flex-drum -- I got a 5" nozzle from HD and built up around it to accommodate the size of the drum. Or you can take the easy way out and get one of these -- They have then on amazon and Peachtree Tools -- dgman, JimErn, planeur and 1 other 2 2 Quote
JimErn Posted January 30, 2020 Author Report Posted January 30, 2020 Ahh Tony, now that makes a lot of sense, very nice idea, thank you. I just noticed the screen, yeppers I am going to need that for the ones that get away. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
dgman Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 I have pretty much the same fitting Tony shows in his last photo. Got it at Woodcraft. I have wire screen installed to keep small parts from getting sucked in in case I drop it. JimErn and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
GrampaJim Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Same here. And yes you will want a screen to catch the parts that get away from you. Not if, but when! dgman and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
meflick Posted January 31, 2020 Report Posted January 31, 2020 Another one similar to Tony, Dan and Grandpa Jim. I just left it to my handy man who runs the set up for the dust collection system. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
JimErn Posted February 2, 2020 Author Report Posted February 2, 2020 @dgman Dan, in your pics, what is the two black tracks at the base of the grinder for? Is this some kind of removable mounting system? OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Nothing worse than having an unused tool so I repurposed the grinder with the Flex sander on the left and I eventually will mount my mop sander on the right. The Wolverine tracks are not in the way so I just didn’t remove them. If only I could find a use for my mortising machine! OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Rolf Posted February 4, 2020 Report Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) Here is my home built dust collection on my home built Pneumatic drum sanders. It works great. And yes I normally have a cover over the belt! Edited February 4, 2020 by Rolf meflick, JimErn, BillinNH and 3 others 3 3 Quote
