Charlie E Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 (edited) My 31 year old daughter started an Etsy shop about a month ago. She draws the designs by hand and makes PNG files for sublimation tee shirt printing. We figured it would be a slow start but she's had almost 300 sales so far. Here's a few of my favorites. Her shop is at https://etsy.me/2vkRftH if you'd like to check it out. Wish I had a fraction of her artistic ability. I would love and die for 300 sales!!! I'm not smart enough to describe exactly how she does it but some she draws on paper, some on an iPad Pro, and turns them into a PNG file. All I know is she can draw good! She's done lots of things like murals for local elementary school hall walls. Glad she found something she can make once and sell over and over. I'm a tad jealous of that part of it. Wish I could scroll something once and sell it 100 times. Patterns maybe. amazingkevin and RabidAlien 1 1 Quote

That way, when it comes back, you could sell it again!!! Yeah, I'm not quitting my day job either. LOL Charlie E, Jim McDonald and wombatie 3 Quote

Chiloquinruss Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 The process is called dye sublimation. Remember back to the old days of those 'rubbery' t-shirt transfers? Well this is the current state of the art in t-shirt printing. That's how those photo tees are done. Her artwork is awesome and when applied to a wearable garment, that artwork is amplified. She has skills! Russ "A dye-sublimation printer is a computer printer which uses heat to transfer dye onto materials such as a plastic, card, paper, or fabric. The sublimation name was first applied because the dye was considered to make the transition between the solid and gas states without going through a liquid stage." Quote

About all I knew was the new process didn't have that awful rubbery feel. Like wearing a t-shirt with duct tape on it. Quote
