I heard Judy Gale Roberts speak a few years ago and her comment was to use cheap stuff as the good stuff stuck too well.  I bought mine at a Dollar store,  I have 2 sided tape that I use for turning and once it gets on it is hard to get pieces apart.

FYI:  Judy has an article on using sanding shims and in it she recommends light traffic carpet tape.

The link is https://intarsia.com/blogs/news/using-sanding-shims  and you can down load to article there too.

What type of double sided tape are you using to hold your wood pieces on your sanding shims?

ROFL, Dave after having done those tiny pieces for about half of the intarsia you are working on, now, NOW you ask?

I used a roll from HD, and like Don says, it sticks really really good, when it is gone, off to the dollar store I will go.
