Not really a need or use, more of a "If I'm going to cut something like this, I want to maximize my output and get as many as possible out of it." The thicker the piece the more washed out the complex cuts will be just due to the size. I use 1/8" bb. kmmcrafts Posted April 7, 2020 Report Share Posted April 7, 2020 I cut everything from 1/8" and stack cut between 4-6 at a time.. Of coarse I'm a seller so the more I do in one cutting helps keep the price down.. Only 1/4" I use is backers for the most part... That said.. most backers are a contrasting ( usually walnut ) 1/4" plywood material... not much for BB backers and stained.. Lot of fine veining, I like to use 1/8" because thicker and the veining will not show up. I erred on my last picture, well didn't err, I didn't have a piece of 1/8" so I used 1/4". As you can see the detail of the picture does not show up like it would have had I used 1/8".
