Clayton717 Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 I was asked after posting my ribbon pen how I made it. So I made a video on how I did it. I couldn't get it to uploadhere. the file was to big(i think). I uploaded it to you tube. There are three parts to it,I will post them as they upload to youtube takes about 2 hours each. here is the link to the first part here is the second part - here is the last part - I should have the finished pen posted tomorrow, as long as I can get out to my shop. Could you post a link to where you buy the stuff to color your resin? I can't wait to see the finished turnings. Heres the link to coastal scents. http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore ... gory_id=35 look under micas & pigments - and/or oxides /ultramarines. these are listed on the left side about half way down under make up ingredients. some of my favorite colors - ultramarine blue - very rich blue, Orchid Shimmer - nice purple, cellini red yellow and blue, Paradise Sea Green- nice shimmering green (used in video), black , Pearl White Mica- very pearly looking white. mixed with black it makes silver. There a several more but these are the ones I use the most. Quote
Oges Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Thanks for your efforts in doing the movies Clayton, will be sure to check them out tonight. Quote

Clayton717 Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 Hey Clayton, what size containers of the mica were you using in the video's. the 1oz or 8oz? those are the 1ounce containers. I have only bought a couple colors in 8 ounces and they sent those in bags instead of plastic containers. Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Very nice videos Clayton. I was wondering until the end how you made the forms. I am glad you showed us. DW Quote
scrollworks Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 I haven't been on the site for quite some time, and stumbled upon your ribbon pen videos. This is fantastic work, and the videos make it easy for anyone to do it themselves. Very nice work, and thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Clayton717 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Report Posted October 23, 2011 Thanks guys, Happy to do it. These videos Travis posted on www.woodturningvideos.com. have turned up and been refered to many times on IAP (international assaciation of penturners) forum. So there are several using them, I had no idea they would help that many. Quote
