Popular Post Rolf Posted December 25, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted December 25, 2020 This is the last of three Gnomes designed by Bruce I have done all of them in segmentation mainly because I want more intense colors, and I sell them. This was for my wife as a stocking stuffer. I will make more during the year. This one has more pieces, plus I make all of them 4" tall. This one has the best face, but I can't decide which is my favorite. don watson, ben2008, TexasDIY and 12 others 15 Quote
Dan Posted December 25, 2020 Report Posted December 25, 2020 Great job on all three! I also think the color is more attractive than the intarsia version. Thanks for sharing. Quote

spirithorse Posted December 26, 2020 Report Posted December 26, 2020 Great work, Rolf! Thanks for sharing! I was looking through some past issues of SSWC today and saw plenty of the items you cut for their magazine. Great talent! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse Rolf 1 Quote
wombatie Posted December 26, 2020 Report Posted December 26, 2020 Oh I love them all. I wish it didn't cost so much for postage, I would buy a set from you. Oh well, never mind. Marg Quote
Rolf Posted December 26, 2020 Author Report Posted December 26, 2020 (edited) Marg order the pattern and make some, but I warn you they are addictive. The three in the picture are the originals that I made, the rest sold immediately according to the consignment location I had them at. Spirithorse, My work with Fox Chapel started in 2010. One of the issues or it was a posting, I don't remember, was a hart shaped pattern that would hold a small picture frame insert. It said if you may be interested in test cutting for us cut and send this to us. I had been cutting delicate ornaments for about 5 years at that point, so what the heck. I have cut all sorts of projects for them from simple to some serious challenges, like three wooden gear clocks. I learned never to dismiss a project even if it did not initially appeal to me, more often than not I always liked the end product. The craziest was this project Santa's North pointing Chariot that they asked me to design, build and write an article. I found some pictures and went for it. Sue Mey designed Santa for me. Messaged them, they will look into it for next year. Hopefully the pricing isn't horrible. Quote

I ordered mine back in 2018 and I see that it was mailed so it was $8 +$5 shipping. So I guess shipping has gone up. So why did it jump up to $26? OOPs just realized you are in Australia. I provide a clock hardware kit for one of the clocks I did for the SSWWC magazine, and shipping overseas kills me. I feel real bad about what I have to charge to get it there sometimes the postage is more than the kit. I am upfront about it and let the customer know and let them make the final decision. Customs is also a major pain especially in the UK. Bruce is currently in mid move to another state. I would contact him and see if he could send it as a PDF file, no need for a hard copy, especially this small. The only time I order hard copies is from JGR. Rolf Posted April 1, 2021 Author Report Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) Thank you Fred. In response to some of the other comments regarding shipping. With the price of shipping going up I really think that all of the pattern designers need to give you the option of PDF files. Sue Mey has been doing it for years and so have others. meflick Posted April 1, 2021 Report Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) Bruce had made it possible to get the patterns via email (at one time, he had had an issue and was only sending them out this way) not too long ago if my memory serves me correctly. Might be worth checking his site to see if that is an option now. Just went and looked at his site and it says send him an email if you want a downloadable PDF so I would email him and see if you can get that way cheaper Marg @wombatie if you are still interested.
