I need to crop everything out of this image and just have the cat.. Trying to make a CNC carving of my cat.. I created a nice design but don't like the couch and all the background stuff..

I have both inkscape and gimp.. Prefer to learn inkscape method but will do whatever the easier one is, LOL

A pair of scissors and an exacto knife?

Well since I been scrolling for 18 years now.. I figured it might be time to learn the pattern making side of things.. :)  I've done this method for a lot of years and works well for scroll saw work.. Not so much for laser and CNC work.. and I've wanted to learn it anyway.. I just never taken the time to do so. Over the years I have learned these programs and designing a little.. more and more each time I use them.. Until I get into something I haven't done yet.

Kevin I use GIMP for this, super easy. Just google how to crop background, lots of you tube on this, and much better then I can explain it.

Yeah, I've done it before in Gimp but for the life of me I couldn't get it to work.. Now that I slept on it I know what I wasn't doing, LOL

Oh cool! another free site thing... I've learned so many of these recently from the CNC guys.. I'm bookmarking this.. Thank you

Another cool site is picsvg.com https://picsvg.com/ It will take a coloured picture and make it black and white.

See my post for an example.  https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/42119-learned-something-new-about-portrait-making/

Might be useful with a laser
