Wichman Posted April 29, 2021 Report Posted April 29, 2021 I've been having trouble keeping a grip while cutting; I have plenty of strength in my hands and fingers, but I keep slipping on the piece. I have tried thin cotton gloves and latex gloves with some success. Do any of you have the same type of trouble? If so, what is your go to solution? P.S. Yes, this affects me in other things, I have other solutions for other activities (part of my job is to stretch canvas prints on frames, my fingers won't grip the canvas unless I lightly wet my fingers. Can't really use that method for scrolling.) OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Tom-in-Ashland Posted April 30, 2021 Report Posted April 30, 2021 I have very dry hands and have that problem also. Have found that a good hand lotion helps. I use a Gold Bond product. OCtoolguy and Jim Finn 2 Quote
LarryEA Posted April 30, 2021 Report Posted April 30, 2021 From the way I read your post, I would suggest a general visit and physical by my Doctor. OCtoolguy and danny 1 1 Quote

This has been an ongoing problem for many years, but I will revisit it with my Doctor in May. The fingertip moistener is working, just enough extra grip, no transfer to the pattern or wood. jerry1939 Posted April 30, 2021 Report Posted April 30, 2021 Don't saw anymore, but did as Scrappile suggested & used Finger Tips. My wife & I put inserts into Church Bulletins. The are great when working with paper. Buy various sizes, Too big & they slip off. Too small and they hurt fingers. OCtoolguy and new2woodwrk 2 Quote
Grumpy Old Bear Posted April 30, 2021 Report Posted April 30, 2021 I use the rubber finger tips on two or three fingers - I call them my steering fingers. I like to keep one hand 'naked' for feeding into the blade, but the steering fingers work a lot better (for me) with the rubber tips. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
new2woodwrk Posted May 1, 2021 Report Posted May 1, 2021 (edited) I don't have the problem yet myself, although my hands/fingers do get cramped and lock into abnormal positions I was going to recommend the finger tips as I was looking at them recently for something else Edited May 1, 2021 by new2woodwrk Quote
