Wichman Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 I have some ideas, but I'm no pattern maker. I posted so I can follow. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Wichman Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 There is a long thread about this subject here: Quote
ChelCass Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 Have you gone to You Tube and look for 3D pattern instructions? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 It's really pretty basic if I'm not wrong. Just draw a picture on one side and try to draw a side view at 90 degrees from the front view. If it's a round item similar to a chess pawn, it would be the same on both sides. The important thing is the placement of the center line where it joins to the block. It must be absolutely centered on the corner edge. There is a pretty good video on youtube done by the Gwinette Wood workers group. I'm not sure of the fellow's name but it's a German name like Hans or something like that. He goes into a lot of detail on how to cut the 3-D items. Not sure about pattern making though. John B 1 Quote
Craft_E_Vet Posted January 26, 2022 Author Report Posted January 26, 2022 I looked up creating 3D patterns on you tube but all I found was how to cut them. I think I know who your talking about OCtoolguy he has some long videos. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
preprius Posted January 27, 2022 Report Posted January 27, 2022 copy a picture from the web that you like. Size it to match one side of the square. grab another picture or make lettering and size it for the other side of the square wood. attach the prints to both sides of wood. and drill a hole to cut the silholletes of the pictures. Here is another example with pictures on one side and letters on the other. See I left a lot of wood so when she gets married I can add a name. And add another instrument if she wants.
