spirithorse Posted March 12, 2022 Report Posted March 12, 2022 They still make a few of the appliances but, yes, I have seen all of these except the holder for the chalk. Our little school probably couldn't afford such a luxury item! LOL Thanks for sharing and God Bless1 Spirithorse Quote
John B Posted March 12, 2022 Report Posted March 12, 2022 Most I have seen and used. A few I have never seen, but I think that is probably because they where not in Australia. wombatie 1 Quote

dansnow Posted March 12, 2022 Report Posted March 12, 2022 I must be ancient. The only one I didn't recognize was the food stuff in the carboard box. Cheese of some sort? Quote
Dan Posted March 12, 2022 Report Posted March 12, 2022 Only one I don't have a clue about is the box of ?cheese? We still have that exact flour sifter, but never use it. And, wow, an address book that didn't require a battery. We had smart technology. John B 1 Quote

If my memory serves me correctly, it is USDA Gov’t issued surplus cheese. It was given, at no charge, to lower income families. Quote
bandaideman Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 you really know how to hurt a guy near his birthday but I did not miss any and several I knew before looking at more than the top John B 1 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 I didn't get the blue light one! I own a set of the medieval torture devices....granted they came from my parents place. Velveeta cheese came in a box like that. I guess I am old as well. Quote
meflick Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 (edited) @barb.j.enders The blue light is from the Kmart and maybe some other “mart” type stores (we had S-marts and I think they did them too.) They used to do a “blue light special” sales at random times and on random things in the store during the day. It would be only for a short period of time. You had to be in the store and go to the blue light (which would be on shining blue and twirling and flashing” to know about the special and get it during that short period of time. The two I missed were the ones from cars. I didn’t remember seeing a car with that kind of push buttons for shifting gears (understood what it was, just don’t recall having ever seen one) or the push button on the floor next to the peddle. I think I had. Seen that before, but, wasn’t sure what it was for. DH did explain it. He’s my same age. Edited March 13, 2022 by meflick Quote

We had Red Light specials here and that light was the place you stayed away from because it turned women into monsters meflick 1 Quote

I was too young to drive at the time but I do remember seeing it. The button on the floor was for switching to high beams. Again, didn't drive but we were on the highway al ot heading out camping with the family, so I remember my dad using it. Quote
Bill WIlson Posted March 14, 2022 Report Posted March 14, 2022 I remember just about all of those..... As for the boxed cheese, Velveeta came from the grocery store like that. Ate a lot of that as a kid. It was why these things were made. barb.j.enders 1 Quote
