oldhudson Posted August 21, 2022 Report Posted August 21, 2022 On my walk this morning I noticed the sumac was starting to turn and there are quite a number of acorns down already....so sad to say "old man winter" can't be too far away. GrampaJim, OCtoolguy and barb.j.enders 1 2 Quote
meflick Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 Not ready for Old Man Winter, and should be quite a while here since I am further south, but I am ready to be done with the hot, humid, heat of summer here. Ready for a little more Fall weather. My cherry trees in my backyard never fail to let me know when we hit August, I’m always a little amazed - it’s like clock work, shortly into August, they start dropping their leaves. I look forward to cooler days and then hope we stay that way mostly with a mild winter. Charlie E and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
John B Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 It's the opposite here. Just getting into spring, which is a strange time in the goldfields. Rain one day, freezing the next, Windy another and beautifully sunny .another. I don't like the extreme heat we get, but I sure look forward to thawing out and getting some warmth back into my bones. wombatie, OCtoolguy and Gene Howe 3 Quote
wombatie Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 This is the first year I remember feeling this cold, since I arrived in Australia. I normally love winter but I will definitely be happy when it starts to warm up. Marg Gene Howe and OCtoolguy 2 Quote

Scrappile Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) I had a friend that told me he asked a Native American once how he always seemed to know when there was going to be a vey cold winter.. The Native American told him that he sat at the street corner and watched how much fire wood the white man brought in.. Gene Howe Posted December 11, 2022 Report Posted December 11, 2022 Winter in S. AZ ain't too shabby. Still, below 40° chills these old bones. It's 42° now and headed for a gloriously, sunny 75°. But, tomorrow the bottom drops out. A high of 50° and rain all day. The Weather Channel site has our overnights at 30° for a few nights this coming week. Quote
Heli_av8tor Posted December 13, 2022 Report Posted December 13, 2022 Looking forward to the next 3 months in Yuma. Quote
