Question.  Does the puzzle go right thru as the pictures are reversed.  I am going to do one of the cat puzzles but waiting for grand daugther to choose.

Don,  I did leave it so the puzzle would go right through.  You could easily put a backer on it.  I wasn't thinking to clearly when I started, otherwise I might have put a backer on it.  That being said, this makes it just slightly more challenging because you have to get the "right side up".

3/4" is recommended thickness. Unfortunately I dont have an opportunity to cut and test it by myself, but I looked throught some forums and find out that scrollers use 1/2"-1" inch thickness, depends on project size. Recommended hummingbird size about 8x9",  also I think it is more stable if you want for the project to stand, but if you want just assembling puzzles you can use thiner wood
