Popular Post Sparkey Posted February 6, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted February 6, 2023 I made a lidded box to enter into a contest at our club. It is made from walnut. It is around 6” tall. I finished it with walnut oil. I finished the inside with black flock. I used steel color model paint for the bands. Not happy with the bands. Not going to enter it. I made a different box that I like better. My wife likes it better too. The last picture is with the box I am going to enter but I haven’t put the finish on yet. It is pecan bottom with quarter sawn sycamore top and spindle. Dan, Jronn65, jollyred and 8 others 11 Quote
Scrappile Posted February 7, 2023 Report Posted February 7, 2023 Both are nice but I agree the second shows more turning skill. Very delicate. That grain in the lead is gorgeous! Quote
Gonzo Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 Both are very nice, but I too like the pecan piece. Quote
meflick Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 (edited) Ditto, both are good. Just different looks, first one more “industrial” or “rustic” when compared to the second. Second one is a piece of art and is just beautiful. Edited February 9, 2023 by meflick Fixing typo Quote
barb.j.enders Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 Both are nice, but the second one is lovely. For the bands, you could check for some fine detail tape. Quote
Sparkey Posted February 11, 2023 Author Report Posted February 11, 2023 The results. Scrappile 1 Quote
