Joe W. Posted June 8, 2023 Report Posted June 8, 2023 Heard on the news the USA may be importing wheat due to drought conditions in the midwest and grain will have to be shipped to the mills there for processing. Anybody else heard to this? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted June 8, 2023 Report Posted June 8, 2023 Well, we import most everything else. Why not wheat? Hate to hear this. Quote
dansnow Posted June 9, 2023 Report Posted June 9, 2023 I could respond to this, but I'd likely be banned! OCtoolguy and Gene Howe 2 Quote
MTCowpoke22 Posted June 9, 2023 Report Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) I haven't heard that, at least not yet. I can tell you that a good chunk of Montana and North Dakota is off to a great start on this years' crops, and we raise a lot of wheat and durum. I have heard that western Kansas is a complete disaster due to drought. Very little to none of their winter wheat survived, and many are replanting into millet to try and salvage their year. Farmer are at least happy that prices have finally come up. But you have to have something to sell to take advantage of it! Edited June 9, 2023 by MTCowpoke22 OCtoolguy 1 Quote
MarieC Posted June 9, 2023 Report Posted June 9, 2023 The Easten Washington Palouse looks beautiful in grains...was just down there a few days ago and it looks like they will get a lot of bushels per acre. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I took 4 years of vocational agriculture in high school and the knowledge I learned is that I don't have what it takes to be a farmer. I'd be on mental medication for worrying too much. OCtoolguy Posted June 11, 2023 Report Posted June 11, 2023 With the Chinese buying up our farm land, will we still have to import wheat from China? Just askin... MarieC 1 Quote
